Winter Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Bipenggou, Mount Siguniang, Dagu Glacier 5-Day Snow Play Tour (2-8 people boutique small group)

At the end of September, the colorful forests were not fully red yet, but the mix of yellow, green, and red was still beautiful. Bipenggou looked like a palette at the very beginning of its mix, while Dagu Glacier had thick snow that was blinding in the sunlight, so sunglasses are a must. Jiuzhaigou's Five-Flower Lake looks great no matter how you photograph it, and the ponds in Huanglong were full of water. Songpan Ancient City has a lot of character. Mornings and evenings are genuinely cold, so a down jacket and lip balm are essentials. Small tour groups can stop for a few minutes when a nice view appears, giving you the freedom to take photos. If you want to play in the snow, Dagu Glacier is the main spot for that, while Jiuzhaigou is still all about the water.

Our driver-slash-guide was very nice, approachable, and not overly talkative, but he covered everything that needed to be said—altitude sickness, meeting times, photo spots—without any fluff. Itinerary: There were no mandatory shopping stops or sales pitches the whole way. We left on schedule and enjoyed a very relaxed trip. Attractions: The scenery was quite beautiful. It was still green at the foot of the mountain, while there was snow at the peak. Especially at Dagu Glacier, as soon as you take the cable car to the top, you are immediately transported into winter.

We were thinking of leaving before the National Day holiday, but unexpectedly there were still quite a lot of people. The hotels provided comfortable accommodations; the ones in Heishui and Jiuzhaigou were better than expected, with clean bedding and great hot water pressure—taking a bath after mountain climbing really helped recharge our energy. The scenery was breathtaking, though the wind at the mountain pass was very strong, so you need to bring warm jackets. Overall, we were satisfied with the travel agency's service. However, due to the massive crowds, there were some traffic jams. Next time we travel, we will definitely choose a time when there are fewer people.

At the beginning of the month, the water in Jiuzhaigou is still quite clear, and the real scenery in person is much more beautiful than in the photos. The altitude of Huanglong is a bit high, so you must carry an oxygen cylinder, otherwise climbing will leave you very short of breath. I felt the accommodation was better than expected. The two-day drive is indeed long, and some roads are quite winding with mountain switchbacks. The six of us rode in a business van, which felt quite stable and offered decent comfort.

At the foot of Bipenggou it is still autumn, but winter has already arrived in the mountains. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the 5-day trip. Our driver, Brother Du, was fantastic; he helped us coordinate a lot of things and drove very smoothly. The fellow travelers were also great—everyone took turns sitting in the back row, and everyone was very friendly.

My friend and I booked this 5-day tour and visited many places. We traveled in a small vehicle with a small group, which was very comfortable. The driver was wonderful and would stop at scenic spots for us to take pictures.

The driver navigated the mountain roads very smoothly. I easily get carsick, and only the fifth day was a bit difficult, but the other days were fine.

I didn't expect the temperature difference in Western Sichuan to be so extreme; it was freezing. Fortunately, the older brother and sister in our group lent us their extra jackets when we were at Bipenggou, otherwise we really wouldn't have made it. The driver was nice; he had a bit of an accent that was hard to understand, but he was very enthusiastic.
