What to expect
Escape the predictable city tours and lose yourself in Georgia’s raw, silent wilderness. This isn't a crowded bus trip; it's a rugged 4x4 expedition into a landscape that feels like another planet. You’ll navigate off-the-beaten-path trails to reach the "Real" Colorful Mountains, where vibrant mineral layers create a surreal, photo-ready backdrop far from the tourist throngs.
The energy here is calm and ancient. You’ll explore the 6th-century St. John (Natlismtsemeli) monastery, a hidden gem carved into the cliffs where time stands still among centuries-old frescoes. Between the adrenaline of the off-road drive and the deep peace of the desert, you'll feel a profound connection to nature. If you crave authentic emotions and a journey that looks as good as it feels, this is your adventure.

Good to know
- Safety & Territory: This tour is 100% safe and stays entirely within Georgian territory. Please note that Udabno Monastery is currently closed to the public; however, our exclusive 4x4 route offers equally stunning, untouched vistas.
- Footwear is Key: You’ll be walking about 4 km (2.5 miles). Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Flip-flops or sandals are not suitable for this steep and potentially muddy terrain.
- Desert Heat: From May to October, temperatures often soar above 30°C (86°F). Prep for a hot day—bring sun protection and stay hydrated.
- Respect the Culture: When entering sacred Orthodox churches, women must cover their heads and wear skirts (wraps are often available), while men should wear long pants.
- Bumpy Roads: Real off-roading means dirt tracks. If you are prone to motion sickness, we highly recommend taking your personal medication before the drive begins.
- The Vibe: Our groups are often international, and tours may be conducted in English and Russian simultaneously. This creates a relaxed, inclusive pace with detailed explanations for everyone.
- Weather Ready: "There is no such thing as bad weather, only poor clothing." Check the forecast and bring layers to stay comfortable throughout the day.
- Adventure Mindset: This is a raw, authentic experience. Listen to your guide’s instructions, stay with the group, and get ready to feel proud of conquering the Georgian wilderness!
