Nagoya Inuyama Castle, Magome-juku Full-Day Tour with Ena Gorge

Inuyama Castle is a National Treasure featuring Japan's oldest original castle with stunning Kiso River views, though do note wooden stairs are extremely steep. Magome and Tsugamo offers a beautifully preserved Edo-period post town, famous for its stone-paved slopes and scenic Nakasendo trail.

The tour was wonderful. Our tour guide, Ogawa-san, was very thoughtful and considerate throughout the trip. Most of the participants were Chinese, and we were the only two Filipinos in the group. Despite this, Ogawa-san made a sincere effort to ensure we understood the historical explanations about each place. She kindly gave us additional explanations and even messaged us separately to confirm the meeting time and location so we would not get confused. Because of her attentiveness, we were never late, and we always felt that she was looking out for us. She was warm and genuinely committed to making sure everyone enjoyed the tour. 1 comment for improvement, please don’t drive too fast, Mr. Driver and maintain the bus. Overall, I truly loved the tour of the old towns. Inuyama Castle was especially memorable — I recommend climbing to the top because the view is absolutely worth it. The evening lighting ceremony was also beautiful and very special. I am very glad I booked this tour.

Great tour just hours away from Nagoya. Inuyama castle and the walking trail of Nakasendo is definitely worth a visit! The tour guide named Liu is detailed on explanation.

We were very satisfied with this itinerary. The attractions were all places we really wanted to see, and the time spent at each stop wasn't rushed. Our tour guide, Yukino, would first introduce the key highlights of each attraction on the bus, including what to see and eat, and provide maps. She also used tablet images to help us visualize things, so we could start exploring immediately upon arrival. It was very thoughtful. Thanks to her dedicated companionship, we had a wonderful travel experience.

Thank you Liuchang for being a great guide. She speaks fluent English. She was enthusiastic, informative and well organized. She reserved the lunch restaurant and our meal ahead of time which gave us extra time to explore Magome. The castle is one of five original castles. Beware of a lot of steep steps but the view from the balcony was beautiful. You pay extra 1000 yen per person if you want to go in. You can also walk around the area to see the shrine and cute traditional Japanese shopping area. Magnome was busy but beautiful. The other town was quieter but was well preserved. We even saw 2 monkeys in the trees. We found the timing was enough for us to explore.

Iris speaks fluent Chinese and English, and did a great job managing both set of participants. The places we've been to are great addition to our Japan experience. One little improvement could have been on the bus airconditioning to further give comfort to passengers especially when hopping on after each tour.

Excellent guide Ogawa, excellent itinerary, excellent driver, and even better, I was lucky enough to encounter the once-a-year scenery!
