Kyoto Tea Ceremony & Matcha Making TIA KiyomizuYasakado-ri Shop

My dad and I had a lovely time coming here to wear kimonos and participate in a traditional matcha ceremony. This was something I was looking forward to when planning our trip, and this definitely lived up to the hype. Despite being a bit early, the kind staff immediately let us choose our kimonos and got us dressed quickly. I was beyond impressed with not only how fast they dressed us, but how speedy they were doing my hair. I have puffy and thick hair, so I was worried, but they did an awesome job with styling it. I felt beyond beautiful with their help. In addition, we had Yoko as our tea master and she was lovely. While short, the tea ceremony was the perfect length for us as my dad struggles with sitting on the floor for long periods. The matcha and snacks were 10/10 as was the whole experience!

Absolutely a must-do! Our experience was fantastic. They explained the various steps and their history, plus taught us a few Japanese words, which is always helpful! There's a wide selection of kimonos, with a complete dressing process, starting from the undergarment! Well done!

It was the perfect quick and short experience! The matcha was we made was hot and delicious, and wearing the kimono was so worth it especially if you want to walk around afterwards and take photos! If you want a more in depth experience this may not be for you!

A beautiful and very informative experience. In addition to learning the art of tea preparation, it was a wonderful moment of cultural exchange. Everything takes place in a tea room within a house, on the second floor of a kimono rental shop. Upon first entering the shop, it might not appeal to our standards, but in reality, an intimate and special moment is created that enhances the entire experience. I highly recommend it.

The staff were very hospitable and the customer service was great. We enjoyed trying on Kimonos and learning how to make matcha tea with Sena (may have misspelled her name) while learning more about the meanings behind the practise. Definitely reccomend and would book again.

we got to be dressed in kimonos and got to learn how to make macha, the women in there were lovely and the woman hosting the tea ceremony was sweet and took photos for everyone aswell

Super amazing and fun to do. Our kimonos were so beautiful and it was really fun to get to walk aoud outside and go look around the Gion district 100% worth it! Our tea master Hiro was also super nice and such a sweet heart

Really enjoyed the experience. It was a shorter tea ceremony more suited to tourists, but very family friendly.

It was such a great experience! You should try. İt is easy to reach. And you can get information about matcha, the history of matcha. And making matcha with traditional tools was so good. You can taste three traditional japanese desserts! Definitely try it!
