Food Sample & Traditional Dance in Gujo Hachiman Castle Town

Discover the living history of Gujo Hachiman, a hidden gem in Gifu Prefecture known for its clear waterways, traditional townscape, and vibrant cultural traditions.

Begin at Sample Village Iwasaki with a hands-on “sampuru” (realistic food replica) workshop, creating your own unique souvenir to take home. Then enjoy a guided walk through the preserved castle town, where stone paths and wooden buildings evoke the Edo era, followed by a lunch of local specialties such as Hida beef or soba.

Conclude at the Gujo Hachiman Hakurankan Museum with a live performance of Gujo Odori, one of Japan’s most celebrated traditional dances and an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. This day trip from Nagoya offers a well-balanced blend of craft, history, cuisine, and living tradition.
