What to expect
Shikotsu Lake Ice Falls Festival Every winter, Lake Shikotsu hosts a special snow and ice festival, just an hour’s drive from Sapporo. What sets this ice festival apart is that, in addition to ordinary ice sculptures, they also use the pure water of Lake Shikotsu to create artificial glaciers! Being there feels like traveling back to the Ice Age.
Noboribetsu Jigokudani (Hell Valley) Jigokudani is favored by many tourists for its unique landscape. A walking trail is set up within the valley, and visitors can complete a circuit of the valley in 10 to 15 minutes. In addition to the daytime scenery, at night you can experience the “Onibi no Michi” (Demon Fire Path) light installation, taking a walk in a dreamlike atmosphere. There is also a path to Oyu-numa (Hot Water Marsh), where you can further enjoy the vast natural scenery.
Lake Toya Lakeside Lake Toya is approximately 11 kilometers long from east to west, 9 kilometers wide from north to south, and has a circumference of 50 kilometers. The lake surface is 84 meters above sea level, with an average water depth of 117.0 meters, and the lake water is clear. The lake surface does not freeze in winter, making it the northernmost unfrozen lake in Japan, with its clear waters lapping year-round.
Snow World Toya Riding a snowmobile at Snow World Toya allows you to see Mount Yotei in the distance. Blue skies, white clouds, distant mountains, the sea, powder snow, and green pine trees—beauty is everywhere you look.

Reviews
This tour was truly unforgettable. What made the experience even more special was our tour guide, Mr. Andy. One of my favorite moments was when I hesitated to try the snowmobile. I wasn’t confident at first, but he encouraged me and jokingly said that once I tried it, I would end up like a pro. And surprisingly, he was right! His encouragement helped me step out of my comfort zone, and by the end of the ride, I felt so much more confident. This tour is a must-try, and all of the attractions are absolutely worth it.
My tour guide was Serina, and she was great. She gave us plenty of time at each attraction and also recommended good things to buy and eat. She helped take photos at every spot, and she responded to my DM the day before. Lake Toya is beautiful, but unfortunately, it was snowing today, so I couldn't see the reflection of Mount Yotei. However, the tranquil snow scene was also beautiful. They hand out 5% discount coupons at the Lake Toya observation deck. The snowmobile ride (which was optional) was super fun, and luckily, the sky was blue when we were riding, so the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. Remember to wear sunscreen and wind protection while riding. Although 15,000 yen is quite expensive, the tour guide said that you can ride for an hour here, but only half an hour in other places, which makes it feel better. If you don't participate in the optional activity, you can wait for everyone in the snack shop. Finally, the main attraction, the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival, was absolutely stunning. The sunset and twilight made it the best time to visit, but a one-hour stay is only enough for taking pictures. The ice castle at the back is the best spot to capture the entire scene, so be sure to line up to go up. Inside the ice festival grounds, there are also ice-made snow huts selling snacks. You can buy marshmallows to roast, but unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to buy any 🥹
We enjoyed this trip, our tourist guide gave us information everytime we reached the place, it’s is approachable. The snow world festival was amazing! The tourist guide shared us the famous food in hokkaido, history etc. Thank you Eric For this wonderful trip. I love Hokkaido
Tour guide Chillin was very good and thoughtful and explained most of the detail information that we need for the tour and side tips for tourist. Excellent job.
highly recommended.. esp. in snow festival season. all activities are instagramable. we enjoyed the snow mobile with the amazing view of Lake Toya.. Ice festival is also must visit.
Had a blast in this tour! Glad that this tour was available to see the best spots outside of Sapporo! Eric was very helpful as well and it's good that he could speak english to help guide us with info from the places we are visiting
all good, pick up at Sapporo Station, North Exit Bus Station. Green Oriental Bus with English and Mandarin tour guide.
That was a great tour experienced. Our tour guide "James" was very entertaining, helpful and accommodating. No dull moments while with him. Great job👍👏
❄️☀️Today's one-day trip to Hokkaido was very fulfilling!! We encountered heavy snow, and the tour guide promptly adjusted the tour sequence 🚌, allowing us to experience each attraction at its best 😄🗻. Tour guide Sarina was very responsible and lovely ☺️ Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻
I was looking for a Sapporo tour that included Hell Valley and Lake Shikotsu, but I applied for this tour even though Korean was not supported. The guide, Mr. LEO, was very good at making sure I understood English, so there were no major difficulties in understanding the itinerary. The 20,000 yen optional experience in the middle is not mandatory, and there is a free snow sled rental and a small rest area, so it is worth waiting at your leisure.
