What to expect
Learn and understand how Batik is made and the processes behind it. Batik waxed by hand with a canting is known as "Batik Tulis". This is the original, or traditional, way of creating batik. The tool used to apply wax in fine lines is called a "canting". A chanting/canting tools consists of two parts, the handle which is made from Bamboo and the front spout which is made of copper
The workshop begins with a brief introduction to batik theory, covering its rich history and the symbolism behind traditional motifs. Our instructors will then conduct a live demonstration of the authentic batik drawing process using melted wax. Following this, participants will create their own batik designs on pre-selected patterns under guided supervision

A must try experience! The staff were so welcoming and friendly, giving us a brief but interesting introduction to the different batik styles and customs before explaining the methods to properly do the batik wax design. You will choose a stencil, draw out the design with the wax, then paint it to your liking! What a lovely and enriching experience. 10/10 recommend!
I had such a wonderful time at this batik workshop! We learnt about the different batik patterns and their meanings, which made the experience so meaningful and enriching. What I loved most was that we didn’t just watch — we actually got to use the wax and paint our own batik piece, which was really fun and hands-on. It felt very authentic and engaging from start to finish. It was definitely a great use of the SG culture pass 👍🏼
hands on experience.. guide was patient , encouraging a first timer me in batik culture and applying the wax and dye .. her show-do -tell guide was gentle and easy to follow
