Authentic Bat Trang Pottery Class in Hanoi Old Quarter

This is our first time to try pottery and probably not going to be the last. Our instructor is good in english and his assistant too. The assistant in particular is very patient with us even if we kept of breaking what we have been working on. She speaks great english. They sent us the photos of our works in whatsapp when they were done with the oven thingy and coloring them. They were ready for pickup in about 4 days? One of my finished product broke during the cooking process and they explained that it’s normal — they asked me to choose pick 1 item of the same value from their shop as replacement.

Do this on your 1st or 2nd day because the clay needs 1-3 days to fire-up (turn into end product) so you can collect from them and bring home on the same trip. If you can't make it, they do offer to ship so they will contact you later to confirm the shipping fee payment amount. You get to bring back 1 product and any additional is USD 5 each. Another option is to keep it there and you can collect the next time you visitn Hanoi. The location is in Hanoi's Old Quarter itself so it is very convenient. The instructor spoke well, gives clear instructions and was very patient. Definitely worth the visit!

love the workshop, it’s thee hours in total. some of the people decide to quit after two hours, because they got the objects they wanted. I took the three hours. made in the end 4 items. the instructors are super friendly and helpful, also originated from Bat Trang. you’re getting the real deal from this workshop. after choosing your items, you can pick around 5 or 6 colours. it takes approximately 2 or 3 days for the glaze to be finished, if you don’t have time you can let it send to your city. the first item is free, every extra item is usa $5 each. definitely recommend this, had a lot of fun

I had such a great experience at Authentic Bat Trang Ceramic Shop, it turned out to be one of the highlights of my time in Hanoi. The class felt really authentic and not overly commercialized. You actually get to sit at the wheel and try shaping clay yourself, and the instructor was super patient, guiding step by step even if it’s your first time. It’s harder than it looks, but also very fun and surprisingly relaxing. Overall, it’s a meaningful and memorable experience, especially if you want to try something different beyond the usual sightseeing. Highly recommend setting aside a few hours for this if you’re visiting Hanoi.

3 hours of pure pottery. you can make as many as u want. they will fire and glaze 1 for you for free. it takes about 1-2 weeks before u can pick up your item. they allow you to ship it to your country for about 20-25 USD

this was pretty cool! had a fun time with my mom doing pottery for the first time 🫶🏻 everyone here is really kind and the instructor’s English is very good so there was no problem in communicating.

This was my first activity in Hanoi after my flight from the Philippines. I was a bit groggy because I still lack sleep, but the pottery class was interesting and it was a form of meditation and relaxation for me as I mold the ceramics into my masterpieces. The instructor was very patient and supportive as I do and redo the molding and she also shared the history of Bat rang that it’s been existing in century. One of a kind experience and what’s more sweet is I am taking home all the of my masterpieces with me. It’s like I am taking a piece of Hanoi in my luggage and would be using it when I am back in Manila. One of a kind souvenir of memories and history. My heart is full. This is highly recommended. 🫶

Absolutely loved this class! Brought my husband along with me who also had a fun time. The instructor first did a demo and then gave us time to work on as many pieces as we wanted. She was super helpful in fixing our pieces when we messed up or guiding us on how to create the shape we wanted. They help fire/glaze one piece of your choice afterwards and you can pay an extra $5 USD per piece for any extra you want which was nice. They also packaged all of our pieces super well! Would highly recommend this class for a fun and memorable time and suvounier to bring home with you!

amazing experience!!! my 3 friends and i shared the session with 2 other people, and they were all very hands-on with each of us. we got to make as many pieces as we wanted and fired as many as we wished (for a price). the finished products were ready within 2 days. all staff were welcoming and nice. 11/10 would recommend! PS i also had nail gel extensions and they provided me with silicone finger guards for ease

Everything was so interesting, they were really helpful considering that it is our first time to do pottery class. We didn’t feel shy to ask numerous times for help and assistance while experimenting. Sony was also very nice in assisting us with the colors of our finish product. Upon getting the finish product, Sony wrapped our pots individually, and very nicely that I could put it straight in my luggage. Overall experience is super nice!
