What to expect
* When 18,000 fireworks light up the night sky of the Kanmon Strait, Japan's most romantic summer moment begins.
- In the height of summer in Kyushu, the most anticipated seasonal tradition is none other than yukata and fireworks. This journey begins at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, steeped in a thousand years of cultural heritage. Stroll along the ancient and charming approach, savor local delicacies, and immerse yourself in the rich Japanese atmosphere. Donning an exquisite Japanese yukata, wander through shrines and alleys, as if stepping into a summer festival scene from a Japanese drama, where every corner is worth capturing.
- In the evening, head to the annual Kanmon Strait Fireworks Festival, where special group viewing seats are arranged, offering an excellent vantage point. As night falls, approximately 18,000 fireworks are simultaneously launched from both sides of the Kanmon Strait, their brilliant lights reflecting on the sea, intertwining with the harbor night view to form a breathtaking summer night spectacle.
- While waiting for the fireworks to bloom, you can also freely explore the area around Shimonoseki Port. Stroll along the breezy Come On Wharf, savor fresh seafood; visit Shunpanro and Li Hongzhang Road, which bear witness to modern history; or head to Akama Shrine, famous for its vermilion Ryugu-style architecture, to experience the unique cultural charm of a port city.
From the elegant Japanese charm of Dazaifu to the dazzling fireworks of the Kanmon Strait, collect this summer’s most unforgettable Japanese summer story.
① The fireworks will be launched over the strait, with Shimonoseki and Mojiko venues on opposite sides of the strait.
Our one-day tour group's designated seats are only on the Shimonoseki side, and the bus will also only be on this side, not going to the Mojiko side;
② Please arrange your own boat transportation for round trips, but please note that *there will be a considerable number of people taking the boat on that day, and the boats will stop operating when the fireworks begin. Please arrange your time accordingly to avoid being unable to return!

Reviews
Everything was arranged perfectly. The fireworks display location was excellent, and the tour guide was very responsible and happy to share information about local food. It was no problem going alone, and I even made new friends! 🫶🏻
I had a wonderful day at the Kanmon Straits Fireworks Festival. Our tour guide, Mao Xiaojing, took great care of all the members of the group throughout the day, ensuring that no one was left behind. I appreciate that she created group chats on various communication platforms. Even when members of the group were later than expected, she was patient and contacted them to make sure everything was okay. She also recommended Fukuoka attractions and restaurants to the group. I would recommend joining Mao Xiaojing's tour because she treats everyone with exceptional hospitality, making you feel right at home.
A smooth trip there and back, and I got to see my first fireworks display! It's the most precious memory from this summer's trip to Japan!
