Chengde, a famous historical and cultural city, boasts many breathtaking attractions and is an excellent tourist destination. The Imperial Mountain Resort is undoubtedly the most dazzling pearl of Chengde. It was the Qing Dynasty emperors’ summer retreat and place for handling government affairs, with a vast area of 5.64 million square meters. The resort has both elegant palace buildings, showcasing royal majesty, and lakes and mountains, like a Jiangnan water town scroll. Strolling through it, you can feel the tranquility and comfort, as if traveling through time, to appreciate the luxury and leisure of the royal family.
Puning Temple is equally charming. The Thousand-Hand Guanyin Bodhisattva enshrined in the temple is 27.21 meters high and is the tallest wooden Buddha statue in the world. This gilded wood carving Buddha statue has exquisite craftsmanship. The thousands of hands have different postures, and the compassionate face is awe-inspiring. Puning Temple combines the architectural styles of Han and Tibetan. The first half is Han style, and the second half is Tibetan style, harmonious and unified, showing a unique artistic charm.
Little Potala Palace—Putuo Zongcheng Temple, built on the mountain, is majestic. It is the most magnificent and largest temple among the Eight Outer Temples, built to celebrate Emperor Qianlong's birthday and the Empress Dowager's birthday, imitating the Potala Palace in Lhasa. The main building, the Great Red Platform, is located on the top of the mountain. More than 60 flat-topped Tibetan white platforms and stupas are freely arranged along the mountain. The red walls and golden roofs shine under the sunlight, showing solemnity and sacredness.
Qingchui Peak attracts countless tourists with its unique shape. The solitary rock soars into the sky, slightly thicker at the top and thinner at the bottom, shaped like a mallet, hence the name Qingchui Peak. From a distance, Qingchui Peak rises from the ground and goes straight into the sky, which is more majestic and spectacular against the backdrop of the surrounding mountains. Standing under Qingchui Peak, one can't help but marvel at the wonders of nature.
