u can book the flag raising yourself on wechat, but i could not get the slots so chose to pay $14 each, added $4 each for a driver pick up for 3 of us. the driver was 30 min late. pick up was 2.30am!! meetup 3am with the guide to walk us to the security clearance point which only open from 4am. then more than 2hr wait for the flag raising at 6.24am, which took like just 2 min in total. sure, the ceremony was grand. but i really would not do this again, as the wake up n waiting was torturous!!😅 everyone was rushing n running to get to the front of the flag viewing spot. big crowd even though it was a normal weekday.

A trip to Beijing isn't complete without seeing the flag-raising ceremony. Even though you have to meet up very early, around 3 AM, I chose to have a driver pick me up. After arriving, you still have to wait another 2 hours for the flag-raising (depending on the daily sunrise time).

Everything went great! We met at the designated place at the designated time. We got to the square without any problems.

joined the package few days ago. info before trip is clear, it is important to minimize the belonging. At meeting point, it is a bit messy and need to find ways to get Guide, wang. also, one aunt kept hard selling the stool and claiming that she is a staff and it is a must to buy, I rejected at first and looked the the guide, Wang, but he just turned head to other direction and showed face like- none of his business. the aunt was content after paying rmb30. not high price, but useless at all in journey. while reach security check, the instructions are badly informed - queue for ard 20 mins and suddenly the counter closed and the whole group need to queue in another row again, during this period, no info and updates from our guide. ..continue to queue….frankly the flag rising event is quite grand and whole event takes 2mins, quite nice.. but you have to wait for 2 hours or more before that… and it is not recommended to go WC as you may miss the place (your standing space)

The atmosphere was incredible; a sense of pride welled up spontaneously during the flag-raising ceremony.
