  • Moji Port boasts Western-style architecture from the Meiji to Showa periods, with port townscapes that feel like a step back in time, full of retro charm.
  • The Kanmon Straits Plaza, combined with the retro product hall, offers shopping, gourmet food, and sea views, creating a relaxed and leisurely harbor atmosphere.
  • The Kyushu Railway Memorial Museum and the Old Moji Mitsui Club showcase railway culture and modern historical stories.
  • Karato Market transforms into a seafood stall street on weekends, with fresh sushi and pufferfish sashimi showcasing the fresh flavors of Shimonoseki.
  • Li Hongzhang Road and Akama Shrine connect the modern history of China and Japan, with historical depth and harbor scenery coexisting.
  • Kokura Castle Garden, the Literary Memorial Museum, and Gintengai offer an in-depth experience of Kitakyushu's culture and daily life.
  • The Wisteria Flower Tunnel in Kawachi Wisteria Garden blooms brilliantly, with the spring-only flower sea marking a dreamy end to the journey.

What to expect

This journey is a nostalgic trip to the port and a romantic visit to a flower paradise, a trip that encompasses the history, cuisine, and spring scenery of Northern Kyushu.

  • Starting from Mojiko Port, which opened in 1889, the Western-style buildings from the Meiji to early Showa periods stand in rows, and the retro streetscape makes you feel like you are walking into an international trading port from a hundred years ago. Stroll along the Kanmon Straits Plaza, shopping and gazing at the Kanmon Straits; step into the nostalgic product hall to pick out limited local products; sit in a cafe converted from a historical building and feel the slow passage of time. Railway enthusiasts should not miss the Kyushu Railway Memorial Hall, which is full of childlike fun and nostalgia, from retro trains to driving simulation experiences; and the Old Moji Mitsui Club, which once received Albert Einstein and his wife, adds a cultural brilliance to the port. When you come here, be sure to try a Mojiko specialty, baked curry, where the rich curry and cheese are fused in the oven, which is the most representative local flavor.
  • Afterwards, you can choose to take a ferry to Karato Market in Shimonoseki, which transforms into a lively seafood stall street on weekends, with fresh sushi and puffer fish sashimi that are dazzling. Follow Li Hongzhang Road, which carries the memory of modern Chinese and Japanese history, and then to Akama Shrine, a red and white fairytale palace, where history and sea views intertwine to create a unique picture.
  • In the second half of the trip, visit Kokura Castle, where the Tang-style castle tower and the Japanese garden complement each other. Pray for blessings at Yasaka Shrine, feel the literary charm of the Seicho Matsumoto Memorial Museum, and finally blend into the daily life of the locals in Uomachi Ginza. The spring-limited Kawachi Wisteria Garden is the climax of the entire journey. The wisteria tunnel is dreamlike and fragrant, and it is the reason why CNN has named it “the most beautiful place in Japan.”

* This is a trip to Northern Kyushu that is suitable for slow walking, slow viewing, and slow photography, allowing people to leave the gentlest spring memories between history and nature.

Between the nostalgia of the harbor and the romance of the flower sea, this is a trip to collect the history, cuisine, and spring scenery of Northern Kyushu all at once.

We had such a wonderful experience. Our tour guide Seki was absolutely amazing — very accommodating, friendly, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire trip. She communicated everything clearly and made sure everyone was comfortable and well taken care of. The itinerary was also very well planned, and the time allotted for each destination was just enough for us to enjoy and explore without feeling rushed. Her positive attitude and professionalism made the tour even more enjoyable and stress-free for us. Thank you for making our Kitakyushu experience so memorable. Highly recommended!

The guide Yang Zhou is knowledgeable and she generously shared lots of extra tips on where and what to eat/buy at Fukuoka. The driver is very friendly, he greeted passenger when boarding/ alighting from the bus. The trip was good, ample time was given at each sightseeing spot. it was a very comfortable and enjoyable trip.

Moji Port was quite unique. Since it was a Saturday, there were market stalls, making it very lively and a good experience. We took a boat to Karato Market for seafood. Compared to other fish markets, the value for money was average, so you can take it or leave it. When we arrived at Kawachi Fuji Garden, the wisteria hadn't bloomed yet, which was a bit disappointing. The tourist center near Kokura Castle, however, was a pleasant surprise; they sold delicious matcha lattes and ice cream there. I must also say that our tour guide, "Zhang Qing," was excellent. He explained all the attractions throughout the trip, provided a lot of interesting information and anecdotes about Fukuoka, and was very thoughtful and polite. He was also concerned that some group members might not have dinner plans, so he recommended many restaurants and even helped us make reservations. The best part was that he taught us how to get to the fireworks festival. If the itinerary is rated 5 stars, our guide "Zhang Qing" deserves 8 stars. This day trip is definitely worth taking.

The tour went well. It departed on time. The tour guide is also excellent. The bus was clean. We had enough time to visit the first 2 places, but it would have been better to add more time for the third place, as it is near a shopping mall, and we could have meal before returning to Hakata.

It was a truly wonderful travel experience. The scenery was beautiful. We also had the chance to stop by some interesting shops along the way. Sushi at Karato fish market is very good. You don't miss it . Having sushu for lunch along the sea coast was very wonderful. Our tour guide, Sun Nan, took excellent care of everyone in the group. They were very attentive, friendly, and always ready to help—especially with taking photos for us, which made the experience even more memorable. Thank you for such a fantastic tour experience.

Our group was Japanese. I had previously participated in a Klook tour in Singapore. The guide provided commentary in Chinese, English, and Japanese, and there were no issues at all. Unfortunately, it was drizzling at Kawachi Fuji Garden, and the wisteria was only about 30% in bloom. However, the sweet fragrance was wonderful. I'm grateful that the guide directed the bus so that participants wouldn't get wet in the rain. It would have been even better if the website had included a line stating that tickets would be sold on the bus. I will look for and join a different tour next time. Thank you very much.

The tour guide was professional and enthusiastic, and the itinerary was well-planned. The wisteria at Kawachi Fuji Garden was beautiful, but since it was the last day of the blooming season, some of the wisteria had already started to wilt. I recommend visiting at the beginning of the blooming season if you want to fully appreciate the wisteria. Please note that due to the beauty of the wisteria, there are many bees in the garden. Tickets are difficult to purchase, so if you're driving, be sure to book your tickets in advance. Parking spaces are limited, so it's best to arrange them as early as possible. For Kawachi Fuji Garden, it's better to go with a tour group.
