Sichuan Jiuzhaigou Huanglong High-Speed Rail Boutique 3-Day Tour

Just got back from a trip that started on August 6th! The high-speed rail was fantastic; it took only 2 hours from Chengdu East Station to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station. Watching the Minjiang River Canyon from the bullet train was a hundred times more comfortable than taking a bus. On the first afternoon, we explored Huanglong. In August, the water in the Five-Color Pond was overflowing, and the travertine pools, with their blue and green hues under the sun, looked like a giant gemstone mosaic. Four hours was just enough time to see all the highlights. The second day was spent enjoying Jiuzhaigou. The Nuorilang Waterfall was in full flow, roaring like thunder, and the Five Flower Lake was crystal clear and brilliantly blue under the midday sun. The temperature in the mountains was under 68°F (20°C), making it feel like a natural air-conditioned room. The Tibetan hotpot at the welcome dinner was better than expected; the broth, infused with local herbs, was incredibly flavorful, and the song and dance performance created a lively atmosphere. Staying two nights at a hotel near the valley entrance meant we didn't have to move our luggage, and the guide provided detailed explanations throughout without any forced shopping. In the past, it took a whole day just to get to Jiuzhaigou, but now we can leave Chengdu in the morning and arrive at the scenic area by noon. We walked about seven to eight thousand steps daily, and my parents weren't tired. Jiuzhaigou in July is lush green, the waterfalls are spectacularly full, and the air is fresh with the scent of plants and streams. Staying two nights at a hotel at the gully entrance meant we didn't have to move our luggage, which was very convenient. My parents enjoyed the Tibetan dinner and even watched a Guozhuang dance. The tour guide didn't enter the scenic area with us, but they explained all the important tips for visiting beforehand, which made the trip quite hassle-free.

The atmosphere of Songpan Ancient City is great. It hasn't been over-commercialized and retains a lot of its original charm. Strolling through the ancient city, you can feel a strong sense of historical and cultural atmosphere. The Tibetan-style hot pot in the evening was delicious, with great-tasting yak meat and Tibetan pork, as well as a variety of local wild vegetables that were both nutritious and tasty. Jiuzhai Valley on the second day was the highlight of the entire trip. The colors of the lakes were truly magical, like sapphires and green jade. Walking on the boardwalk, I could hear the sound of the flowing water and breathe in the fresh air, which made me feel completely relaxed. The travel photography service was also very thoughtful. The photographer adjusted the shooting style according to my preferences, and I really liked the photos that were taken. Although Huanglong Scenic Area on the third day was a bit high in altitude, it was no problem to climb it slowly. The beauty of the Five-Color Ponds was stunning. The butter tea and highland barley cake for afternoon tea were very unique. The tour guide was very professional, with detailed explanations, and the driver's driving skills were excellent. The accommodation was also very comfortable. This trip was really perfect!

Our hotel had a small balcony with views of the mountains in the distance, and my friends all vowed to take the same trip again next year! Our only suggestion would be to allow a little extra time exploring the shops at the gorge entrance; otherwise, it was perfect.

The night view of Songpan Ancient City is super beautiful, with red lanterns hanging all over the streets and alleys, making it perfect for a stroll. The travel photography was a pleasant surprise. The clothes were clean and beautiful, and the photographer was good at guiding, so you don't have to be afraid of feeling awkward. The finished photos were much better than expected. The hot pot and afternoon tea were also a plus, with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. The tour guide provided detailed explanations and attentive service throughout the entire trip. It was definitely an unforgettable trip!
