The price was reasonable for a day trip to Awaji Island knowing that the different locations were far from each other. Although, we only went to one side of the island but will definitely go back to Awaji and get another pass.
I recently bought a ticket to visit Awaji Island, and it was a fantastic experience. The island offers a tranquil atmosphere, making it perfect for relaxing, enjoying lunch by the sea, exploring Hello Kitty Park, and visiting Yumebutai, a stunning architectural masterpiece designed by a renowned architect. The travel pass includes a round-trip ticket from Kobe and a free shuttle bus, making it incredibly convenient for those who don’t drive. Getting around the island was hassle-free, allowing me to fully enjoy its scenic landscapes and peaceful vibe.
Just go to Sannomiya Bus Terminal to exchange the ticket. In addition to taking the highway bus from Kobe to Awaji, this ticket also includes the bus to Awaji Island, which is very cost-effective.
If you walk more in Kitaawaji, it will be worth it, but it is difficult to use in reality because the bus stop names do not show the names of attractions. For example, the free bus will say Hello Kitty Show Box, but the circular bus stop is called Nakamura, which is very confusing. . You can get on and off the high-speed buses which have very few services freely in Awaji, and the common bus stops are not always in the same place, so it is quite confusing. The circular bus only runs once an hour, so it takes a lot of time to transfer to other places. When I stayed at Sumoto Onsen, I found out that the circular bus would not pass by here. Fortunately, I took the Iwaya Line, which only has three buses on weekdays, otherwise it would be really difficult to find a bus. If I want to go to Minami-Awaji, I don’t know how to get there.
You can redeem your ticket at Sannomiya Bus Center and inform the designated date. You can use it on that day. Basically, you don’t need to reserve a seat for the bus you want to use. You can just show it to the driver.
A very convenient day pass! The only drawback is that the city buses on Awaji Island are very difficult to understand!
Definitely worth it! It saves you money, since buying seperately would be more expensive. Also a very comfortable ride!
Redemption was quick and easy at Sonnomiya Bus Terminal. Unfortunately, we were not given a city bus map, which would have been helpful in figuring out how to go around Awaji Island (Google Maps information was not up to date). Also, we were not informed (and there was no English information) that if we were coming from Awaji going to Kobe, we could get off at Maiko Promenade but COULD NOT get on the bus again at the same stop. Boarding the bus was only allowed if coming from Kobe to Awaji. Had we known this, we would have made Maiko Promenade our first stop instead of it being our last stop. Since we couldn't board the bus there, we had to take the train from Maiko to Sannomiya, which partially defeated the purpose of the pass.
nice pass and can be a wonderful way to travel easily
Redeeming the voucher was convenient and quick, and the highway bus was also a good option. However, the local buses on Awaji Island are infrequent, and it's not easy to visit all the tourist attractions on a single route, which was quite a time-waster. It truly gave me a taste of slow living.
