What to expect
Kampong Phluk is a cluster of three villages of stilted houses built within the floodplain about 16 km southeast of Siem Reap. The villages are primarily Khmer and have about 3000 inhabitants between them. Flooded mangrove forest surrounds the area and is home to a variety of wildlife including crab-eating macaques. During the dry season when the lake is low, the buildings in the villages seem to soar atop their 6-meter stilts exposed by the lack of water. At this time of year many of the villagers move out onto the lake and build temporary houses. In the wet season when water level rises, the villagers move back to their permanent houses on the floodplain, the stilts now hidden under the water

Reviews
cool tour with insightful guide. unfortunately went during the dry season so the river was barely there but still fun. and got to try crocodile meat wich was a plus.
very nice organized Tour. you get everything in this tour. the floating village, River, Lake, mangrove Forest and sunset. good guide and great experience
It was a great experience viewing local villages near Siem Reap and the South-East Asia’s biggest lake - Tonle Sap
I provide factual reviews based on my own tour experience. This tour is fairly well designed. There are many great things to see and experience on the tour. The boat ride through the mangroves along coast is the highlight of the tour, but the ticket is not included. Also the dinner and drinks at the floating village restaurant is not included. I think each tour operator supports a specific float restaurant. The dinner cost is higher than on land, which is expected. The quality of the food is decent. Small portion is $5, large portion is $9. Boat ride to mangroves is $5.50 per person. Make sure you bring some cash. We were also rushed off the floating restaurant to the ferry to head back, well before the sun set. We saw the sun set while on the ferry back, which defeats the purpose of waiting almost 2 hours at floating restaurant just for that. Our guide did not say much during the tour.
We timed our boat ride to catch the sunset, and it was the highlight of our Cambodia trip. Watching the sun sink into Tonle Sap Lake while fishermen paddled past was incredible. The colors reflected on the water created a picture-perfect scene. If you go, aim for the late afternoon—it’s worth it.
the tour was great despite we spent one hour on the bus for picking up others before departing to the destination. Sunset from the floating restaurant was amazing and tour guide was kind and knowledgeable. mangrove tour costs separately.
Very smooth pick up and they will drop you off at Pub Street afterwards. I learned a lot and I would definitely recommend this tour. Well worth your time.
Scenery on the Move: Both the lake tour and the mangrove jungle boat tour were satisfying. Although the weather was cloudy and we couldn't see the complete sunset, the vast lake view alone was healing. The guide was also friendly. Schedule: However, since pickups are done at several hotels, please note that it may take a long time to be picked up. It would be better if the tour schedule was created in more detail. The mangrove jungle boat is optional (as of October 2025, $ per 2 people), so it would be better if this was also announced in advance.
Peaceful Escape from the City If you want a break from busy Siem Reap, this is perfect. The boat ride was calm and quiet, surrounded by beautiful mangroves and open water. It felt refreshing and very relaxing.
Memorable Floating Village Tour The Kompong Pluk boat ride was unforgettable. The stilt houses rising high above the water looked amazing, and seeing daily life in a floating village felt unique. The mangrove forest added a touch of adventure, and the lake view was simply stunning.
