It was all worth it. You learn from all the things you see in the museum. Reality hits you hard when you realize the depth of what the war damaged and its casualties. Translation mobiles are available for rent that helps you grasp more what is exhibited. There are souvenirs on the ground floor and a museum cafe outside the building.
If you want to learn about how the US attacked Vietnam or how the Viet fought France for Independance or the impact of the orange element on Viet people, then it is the:place to be. Some pictures are harsher so get prepared.
This is a great way to learn the history of Vietnam. I am very proud that they were able to preserve and present their history in this kind of museum. A true meaning of love and fighting for their country is learned in this activity.
Visiting the War Remnants Museum is a must in Ho Chi Minh. It is heartbreaking to see how Viet Nam suffered during the war, but it is also very informative. The museum displays real artifacts, photographs, and historical explanations that give you a deeper understanding of what happened. It’s a sobering but important place to visit to appreciate Vietnam’s history and resilience.
Our visit to the War Remnants Museum was a deeply moving and informative experience. Seeing the gruesome reality of the history the Vietnamese people endured is incredibly heavy and emotionally draining, but so important to witness. Since it was a Sunday, it was quite crowded, so I was glad we booked through Klook—it made entry very convenient. A must-visit for anyone wanting to truly understand the country's past.
It was a good decision that I availed this because I learned so much about Vietnam. It is rich in history and culture. To exchange it to physical ticket, there will be a guy in red that is waiting in front of war remnants museum and Independence Palace.
Our visit to the War Remnants Museum was an eye-opener; it reminded us that we are all human and must understand one another for the betterment of our lives. You should take the time to read about every journey that took place during the Vietnam War. We learned so much from it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Powerful and Eye-Opening Experience The War Remnants Museum is a deeply moving and educational place to visit. The exhibits are well-curated and provide a powerful insight into the history of the Vietnam War, showing its impact on the country and its people. The photographs, artifacts, and real-life stories are emotional and thought-provoking, leaving a lasting impression. While some sections are heavy, they are important for understanding history and promoting peace. A meaningful and must-visit museum in Ho Chi Minh City.

Guide

  • Immerse yourself in Vietnam's poignant past at the War Remnants Museum, a must-see destination in Ho Chi Minh City and one of the most visited museums in Asia.
  • The War Remnants Museum is a powerful, if controversial, experience. Its unapologetically propagandist nature and selective focus on the Vietnam War—ignoring conflicts with China and Cambodia—prompt reflection on the role museums play in shaping historical narratives, both in Vietnam and globally.
  • Explore the museum's vast collection of over 20,000 artifacts, documents, exhibits, and films, thoughtfully presented across eight thematic exhibitions both indoors and outdoors.

Founded on September 4, 1975, The War Remnants Museum is a member of the International Network of Museums for Peace (INMP) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM).

It is the unique museum in Vietnam to systematically study, collect, conserve and display exhibits on war crimes and consequences inflicted on the Vietnamese people by foreign aggressive forces. Simultaneously, the Museum appeals to everybody to oppose unjust wars, preserve global peace, promote friendship and solidarity among nations.

The Museum is endowed with 9 permanent thematic exhibitions and various special collections. All year round, a wide range of activities are organized, including conferences, meetings with war witnesses, temporary and itinerant exhibitions. With nearly one million domestic and international visitors per year, The War Remnants Museum is one of Ho Chi Minh City's most enticing cultural and tourist sites.
