What to expect
🍁A romantic autumn journey, seeing red leaves, ginkgo, and cherry blossoms all at once, like walking into a flowing painting.
- Stepping into Horakuji Temple in Torakuyama, time seems to slow down. This ancient temple, founded in the Kamakura period, is surrounded by tranquil mountains and forests. The most eye-catching feature is the 700-year-old ginkgo tree, golden like a waterfall, intertwined with the gradually reddening maple leaves in the courtyard, creating a rich autumn palette. The Chisen-kaiyu style garden and the ancient Kannon-do Hall complement each other, making every step a healing landscape, and every casual shot an Instagram-worthy photo full of Zen.
- Next, we arrive at the Obara Shikizakura Festival (held from November 16th to December 1st; time is only an estimate), a rare sight where “cherry blossoms × red leaves” appear together. Over ten thousand Shikizakura cherry trees bloom in autumn, with pink and white cherry blossoms dotted among the fiery red maple leaves, creating an unreal romance. Strolling through the countryside of Obara, the air is filled with a gentle atmosphere, and occasionally you can encounter local markets, where the hustle and bustle of life blends perfectly with the natural beauty.
- Finally, we reach Korankei, known as the premier spot for autumn leaves in the Tokai region. Walking along the Tomoe River, from Tsuki-bashi Bridge to Koran-bashi Bridge, the stream and over 4,000 maple trees weave a flowing tapestry of autumn colors. The fiery red leaves are reflected in the water, layer upon layer, so beautiful that it makes you hold your breath. If time permits, you can also visit Asuke Yashiki to experience traditional handicrafts and feel the most authentic Japanese mountain village life.
* 🍂This trip is about packing all the romance of autumn into your suitcase.

Reviews
This is a self guided tour. Hence, you can explore the place and see sceneries you want without following the guide all the time. Nonetheless, our tour guide gave us helpful tips and recommendation in the bus, where to go for the time alloted to each destination. She gave us a map for Korankei since it is so large and many parking lots are in the area to ensure that we will not lost our way. Every place we went to is so mezmerizing. Autumn, indeed is the best time to explore them. If you have limited days to explore Gifu, I recommend this day tour from Nagoya.
This one-day trip was arranged on a weekday. Fortunately, we did not encounter traffic jams and arrived earlier than expected. There were not many people in the scenic spots. The weather was very, very good, and it was beautiful no matter how we took pictures. When the car we took went to Xianglan Creek, the driver took the wrong route. Fortunately, we arrived safely in the end, but the car broke down after arriving. You have plenty of time to stay at Xianglan Creek. You can stroll around slowly and light up the lights at night. In the end, because the car was unavailable, the tour guide helped us arrange in other groups' cars, and we arrived in the city smoothly. Everything was earlier than the schedule, allowing us to come back with time to continue shopping. The overall experience was smooth. If you encounter any problems, we will help you deal with them. I hope you can complete your journey smoothly in the future.
The tour guide provided limited information about the various locations we visited, which left me feeling that the experience did not justify the cost. It would have been helpful to have more detailed insights at each stop. Additionally, while the tour was advertised as being in English, the guide primarily communicated in Chinese. This could be challenging for non-Chinese speakers on the bus, and I hope future tours can offer a more balanced approach to accommodate all participants. Overall, enhancing communication and information sharing could greatly improve the tour experience for everyone.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting this scenic destination, and it left me utterly enchanted. The highlight of today trip is Korankei Gorge, especially in autumn, is the stunning display of vibrant fall foliage. The gorge is lined with hundreds of maple trees that transform into a dazzling spectrum of reds, oranges, and yellows. We visited in mid-November, however the color still not perfect due to climate change. The beauty of the area was absolutely mesmerizing, and it felt like walking through a living painting. The main activity here is simply walking along the well-maintained paths and soaking in the natural beauty. The walk itself is easy and accessible for most visitors, and there are plenty of spots to stop and take in the view, whether you’re snapping photos or just enjoying the serenity. For those looking for a bit of adventure, there are bridges that cross the river, giving you panoramic views of the gorge and the surrounding landscape. The best thing in this tour is Ms. Mei for being helpful and resourceful to keep everything on schedule and checking everyone need, she also go to the extra mile by providing recommendation or assistance for any customized inquiries such as the dinner location after the trip, which we found truly appreciated the effort. Anyway it is our first trip using Klook and at the first we were a bit unsure since it was book via online but Ms Mei make it easy for us to enjoy the trip without thinking too much or having any hassle. Thank you to the driver too, as the journey was pleasant and safe. at last, Although I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, I would suggest checking the weather frequently since the foliage still not at the peak timing. To summarize, a trip to Korankei Gorge is a reminder of the simple pleasures in life: fresh air, beautiful landscapes, and the joy of connecting with nature. It's a place that stays with you long after you leave, and I can't wait to return.
The trip was well organized and on time given the full capacity of the tour. Guide was well informed and able to handle both Chinese and English language.
Recently, we joined the 1 day trip to korankei. Due weather warming. The maple leaves have not turned colour, but the scenery around the temple and the river is still great. The Ohara Four Seasons Cherry Blossoms just started to bloom. The tour guide Lui Mei (刘梅) is diligent, responsible, and courteous. she even offered to help us take photos. Overall, the itinerary is great.
trip on 30/11/24. travelling between locations was smooth with minimal delay. sufficient time at all the locations as well.
The scenery is beautiful, the weather is good, the three itineraries are elegantly arranged, and the CP value is high! Coupled with the friendly and professional introduction by tour guide Xiao Guo, we have an unforgettable trip. In addition to viewing maples, we can also enjoy cherry blossoms, and see the different maple leaf styles during the day and night. The local Japanese snacks are also exciting! And the tour guide can control the time and come back on time, which is reassuring! Highly recommended to friends who need it 🥳
It is recommended to avoid holidays for one-day tours. This may be because the weather is sunny and the wind leaves are gradually turning red. The scenic spots are full of people and vehicles, and the time to spend at the three scenic spots is relatively tight. The tour guide was very kind, and the driver was also very skilled. At the end of Xianglan Creek, I hope to not only see the evening scenery during the lighting time after 5 o'clock, but it would be even better if I could visit at an earlier time! !
The tour guide Xiao Lu who received us was very kind and courteous. During the trip to Sakura Park, he also privately took us to an excellent place to watch cherry blossoms. The scenery throughout the entire trip is beautiful. Although it is a pity that the Xianglan River, the highlight of the trip, does not have a Red Sea due to climate warming, the scenery is still magnificent, and it is even better after turning on the lanterns in the dark. Tour guide Xiao Lu was worried that we wouldn't be able to see the red leaves and bought us some refreshments out of his own pocket.
