Reviews
The JR Pass Kagawa Mini Rail & Ferry Pass is very cost-effective. The manual exchange process is more rigorous compared to other regions (please allow plenty of time for the exchange). Using JR and the most common train lines to go to and from Kotohira-gu Shrine, we got to ride the Anpanman train 😀. Going to Shodoshima, we got to ride the Slowpoke ferry, which was super cute! And showing the pass on Shodoshima buses is also very convenient! Pass coverage: JR and train Kotohira Line, Shodoshima Ferry and Bus
When planning a 2-day itinerary, if you anticipate frequent bus rides and visiting many attractions, you might consider purchasing this pass. I wouldn't worry about getting off at the wrong stop, and if I suddenly wanted to get off and visit another place, I could.
I bought this pass for my trip to Takamatsu this time, which is a great deal. It allows unlimited rides on the JR free seats and Kotohira Electric Railway in Kagawa Prefecture within 2 days. You can use it to go to Shiundeshan, Kotohira Park, Takaya Shrine, Kotohira Shrine, and Ritsurin Park to enjoy cherry blossoms. You can redeem it directly at the JR Takamatsu green window. It is very convenient to use the manual channel when using it. It is worth recommending 👍🏻
This is all you need to conquer the Setouchi Art Festival! It's very convenient and cost-effective! Because you have to island-hop to different prefectures, take connecting buses, and transfer to ferries, you really need it! But remember to exchange your ticket in advance, and just show it to the station staff at the ticket gate when boarding the bus. You don't need to scan the QR code. Also, just show it to the staff when they check tickets on the bus. No problems at all, everything went smoothly!
A very useful 2-day pass, easy to redeem, and you can ride the JR limited express train's non-reserved seats. Just show your ticket when boarding the train or the Shodoshima ferry.
It's really convenient to take the JR train to Kan'onji, and you can even hike up to Kotohira-gu Shrine. On the way back, you can take the Kotoden train, making it a great way to maximize your JR pass.
Value for money to go places like the Shodoshima island and Mugame Castle and redemption of ticket was easy
The ferry is limited to one route, and while the railway network isn't extensive, it's sufficient for those only visiting Kagawa. I recommend calculating fares beforehand to decide if purchasing it is worthwhile. Personally, I used it enough to feel it was a good deal.
After exchanging the ticket, you can use it directly. I went to Shodoshima and Kotohira-gu Shrine, saving the time of buying tickets. The only inconvenience is that I can only exchange the ticket at Takamatsu Station.
If you're planning to visit Kannonji Temple, I highly recommend buying this ticket. You can also stop in Marugame along the way. However, if you're coming from Kansai and already have the Kansai JR Wide Area Pass, then you might want to reconsider.
