strongly do not recommend this hotel. Our experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived. We were forced to change rooms three times because the bedsheets and pillowcases were visibly dirty and covered with numerous stains. Cleanliness is a fundamental expectation in any hotel, yet it was clearly not a priority here. When I politely requested a different room, the receptionist responded with an unprofessional attitude and implied that I was being overly picky, rather than addressing a legitimate concern. This was both frustrating and disrespectful. In addition, we received our room more than an hour later than the promised check-in time, resulting in unnecessary delays and repeated discussions with the staff. The problems continued once we entered the room: the toilet flushing system was not functioning properly, the shower head was dirty and poorly maintained, and the overall condition of the room suggested a serious lack of hygiene and attention to detail. Furthermore, WiFi doesn’t work properly in the rooms , Towels provided were super dirty . To make matters worse, the room did not even provide a luggage rack or a suitable place to store our suitcases, making the stay even more inconvenient and uncomfortable. The only positive aspect of this hotel is its location, which is close to Copacabana Beach. Unfortunately, the excellent location does not compensate for the poor cleanliness standards, inadequate maintenance, and unwelcoming customer service

The staff was extremely helpful

Very disappointing and traumatic experience at Regency Copacabana. The hotel looks NOTHING like the photos advertised online. The images are misleading and completely different from the reality. We arrived exhausted with my daughter and were given a room in terrible and unsanitary conditions. The room had no proper sheets, the bed was dirty, there was no blanket, the bathroom had no running water, and the toilet did not even have a seat cover. On top of that, there were insects/animals in the room, and the mattress appeared to have mites or serious hygiene problems. The moment we laid down, our skin started burning and itching immediately from the dirt and lack of cleanliness. We spent the entire night uncomfortable and distressed until 6:00 AM, when we finally had to go downstairs and demand another room because it was impossible to stay there any longer. What is most upsetting is not only the terrible condition of the hotel, but also the way they responded afterward — denying the situation and refusing accountability. A “basic room” should still meet minimum hygiene and safety standards. Cleanliness and water are not luxuries. I absolutely do NOT recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families with children. This experience caused stress, discomfort, and emotional distress during what was supposed to be a vacation.

Room outdated with mold on bathroom. Staff always available and provide good service.

Near the beach which is great however the hotel is rundown and room small. However it is clean and staff was nice.

I stayed at the Regency Copacabana Hotel in Rio de Janeiro from March 3–9, 2026, and unfortunately had a very concerning experience. During my stay in Room 908, I discovered bedbugs in the bed and have photos documenting them. By the time I realized the issue, I had already been bitten from head to toe. After reporting the problem, I was moved to Room 1108. The front desk staff were polite, but they seemed largely unconcerned about the seriousness of the situation and I was offered no compensation. Bedbugs are a serious sanitation issue and in my opinion the entire hotel should be inspected and treated by a professional pest management company. While the hotel’s location is convenient and close to Copacabana Beach and many restaurants, I would not recommend staying here until the property has been fully inspected and treated for pests.

Location and staff were great overall! The issue was

AC unit wasn’t running properly when I got there. But it worked fine the 2nd day, maybe the remote control batteries were old. The bathroom was minuscule, and the toilet bowl was running a little water. They need to maintain their facilities better. The staff was friendly and professional, kudos to them!
