Avoid at all costs. The photos online are completely misleading and do not reflect the actual condition of this hotel. We ended up leaving the same day and forfeiting our money because staying here simply was not an option. The first red flag was at check-in. The front desk demanded payment of the city tax in cash only, despite many other hotels in the area accepting cards. There is no ATM on-site, so guests are forced to walk a couple blocks before they can even check in. We were also told we could not take our room keys outside and had to leave them at the front desk every time we left. The room was extremely hot, dirty, and poorly maintained. There was splatter on the walls, stains on the sheets and curtains, dirt on the floor, and thick black mold in the shower. The AC did not cool the room down at all in the time we sat in the room. The location did not feel safe, especially at night, and there was constant noise from traffic and honking outside. After seeing the room, we decided to leave that same day. When we asked to check out, the staff became combative and refused any refund or even a partial refund. Only afterward did we notice the many negative reviews describing similar experiences. One of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had.

The hotel was in a good location to bike to Rome and overall it was a good stay, but there was a lot of noise outside of our hotel room late at night and we had what sounded like someone trying to get in our door once we had gone to sleep which scared us. But it's an older hotel, still very clean, but just loud doors so maybe it was just other people opening and closing their doors.

Bar and restaurant was closed on the Friday evening. Staff had an abrupt manner. Our bath towels were just folded up the next day and were dam. Cost for stay was reasonable. Once you got your bearings you were able to walk to near by restaurants. Wouldn’t stay again

My only qualms regarding the location are two, and they deal only with the fee structure and the apathy of management. There is a 50€ deposit that must be paid in cash for potential damage to the room and incurred fees. These “incurred fees” include a 10€ per hour fee for every hour past the 10:00 a.m. checkout for a guests stay. However, Colony Hotel sends a private message to the guest upon reservation and payment via Expedia that states clearly the checkout time is 11:00am. When I arrived at 1:00am from a days travel, I found myself at the desk reading a policy sheet that states a different check out time, 10€. I also found myself needing to provide a 50€ deposit for deposit, which required me to walk down the street to withdraw cash and incur a 5€ transaction fee from the ATM. I spent about 20 minutes requesting a check out time of 11:00am without an additional cost of 10€. The attendant informed me it’s not possible, management is aware that they have their own message sent through Expedia that contradicts their current policies. Additionally, I was told the attendant would have to pay the 10€ personally if he was to permit a guest an exception. In the morning I attempted to speak to the manager about this discrepancy at my check out of 11:00am. The manager was apathetic and unsympathetic to my request. Overall the customer service was poor. I think it is reasonable given the contradictory information to have granted an exception.

The room was very clean and the staff made check in and check out speedy and stress free. I liked that the reception was 24/7. Only downfall was that the restaurant didnt serve food in the evenings so when we arrived we had to find alternative food places but the staff were helpful in recommending some good food places.
