Our stay at Flamingo Cát Bà was disappointing and far below expectations. While the location and ocean views are beautiful, poor communication and inconsistent management overshadowed the entire experience. We received conflicting information from staff regarding early check-in and breakfast. We were led to believe an early check-in around 8:00 AM would be available, but that was not the case. We were also told breakfast was included, only to later be informed there would be an additional charge. The issue was never the cost—it was the lack of clear and consistent communication. The three buildings appear to be managed differently, creating confusion and inconsistent service. We extended our stay by one night, and what should have been a simple process became unnecessarily frustrating. The bathroom in our room also appeared to have a design flaw that caused water to leak onto the floor. Most disappointing was management’s response. Rather than making us feel heard, our concerns were met mostly with explanations and excuses. Good hospitality starts with listening. We were seriously considering purchasing a two-bedroom, two-bathroom ocean-view unit, but this experience quickly changed our minds. The property has tremendous potential, but management and customer service need significant improvement.

Gorgeous place for a view of Cat Ba and Lan Ha bay. Bit removed from Cat Ba Town if that is the experience you want. Lovely facilities, great food, helpful staff.

Overpriced and lacked a 5-star experience We stayed here for two days, and for a very expensive hotel, it really doesn't deserve its 5-star status in my opinion. At other hotels, we have always received a much warmer welcome, usually with a complimentary drink and plenty of local information about the surrounding area. Here at the Flamingo, it felt completely impersonal—they clearly don't value the customer experience and it felt more like a conveyor-belt system. The rooms themselves were clean and spacious, but there was no walk-in shower—just a bathtub with a shower head. To make matters worse, there was no shower curtain, so it was impossible to wash without completely soaking the bathroom floor, which made absolutely no sense. While the gym was decent, I think it is incredibly unfair and greedy that the spa and sauna aren't included in the steep price. On the positive side, breakfast was nice and offered a good selection. However, the atmosphere of the resort was terrible; it felt like a ghost town, very boring and completely devoid of any life. I certainly wouldn’t stay here again on a visit to Cat Ba.

Good breakfast menu, amazing view of the ocean. Soso room, some electronics didn’t work, terrace door didn’t lock, wasn’t fixed.

This was a beautiful resort in a very nice location. Unfortunately, two of the pools were closed when we were there for maintenance and the weather wasn’t very nice so we were unable to use the beach facilities. There was only one restaurant open for supper dining options. We had to pay for a shuttle into town or you could walk about 20 minutes. It is a bigger resort and felt a little bit more impersonal than some of the smaller properties we’ve stayed at on our trip to Vietnam. Although the staff were friendly and helpful, you didn’t get as much of a personal touch as you do in some smaller places.

Room was lovely and very clean. Breakfast was extensive and large selection. Private beaches were great and only a 10 minute walk into Cat Ba town

The hotel was practically shut down post new year.

Hotel was clean and spacious. The view from the room was lovely. Breakfast was good. My partner and I were shocked at how busy the hotel was, which we probably should have expected from such a large hotel. In addition to this, the infinity pool was closed for maintenance and the 'charm pool' was only half open, with half of it appearing very green.
