The staff were good, the breakfast was generally decent, and the location was great, with the tram stops walkable with just a couple of minutes. The downside for me was that the air conditioning in my room didn’t work during my stay, meaning it was 27.5C in my room for almost all of the time. As this was my only week of holiday for 2 years, I was hoping to sleep well and relax a bit, but that didn’t happen. I even went out walking in the night to cool down. The other criticism is that the shower was at the height of my chest, not over my head, so I either had to kneel, bend down or hold the shower head above myself to wash. The bath I had to get into had a high side, which was fine for me, but anyone with mobility issues would have really struggled. The windows were skylights, so I had no window to look out of. Apparently that was because it was a business room. I was having a mix of a business trip and a holiday, but the holiday aspect was something of a let down. Whilst there were good aspects about the hotel, I’m not sure I would stay there again.

Unfortunately, the hotel had several shortcomings that negatively affected our stay. There was no hand soap in the room, and although housekeeping came every day, it was never replenished. There were also no power outlets near the bed, which was quite inconvenient. The bedside lamps had damaged cables and flickered, which did not feel either safe or comfortable. The biggest issue, however, was the air conditioning in our attic room, which barely worked. The temperature in the room never dropped below 25°C (77°F), even at night, making it very difficult to sleep. It was also disappointing that basic toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner were not provided. On the positive side, the room was clean, and toilet paper was replenished regularly. The breakfast was also excellent, with a wide variety of options and plenty of food available. Overall, the stay could have been much more enjoyable if the hotel paid greater attention to basic room amenities and the maintenance of its facilities.

It was lovely to receive a complimentary bottle of prosecco for my birthday from the hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

This was our second stay at the Carlton hotel. The staff are always friendly, welcoming and amazing. They provide a delicious breakfast, croissants, bread, cheese, meat, pickles, cakes, cereals, hot drinks and juices. The room was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed.

Really nice hotel, lovely staff and a good varied breakfast. My room was more than enough for me and had all the facilities you need. I think some people would require more power plugs by the bed, it wasn't an issue for me. Bars and restaurants outside, including the old TV tower you can visit. Many trams go by the hotel meaning you can visit many things quickly. Overall I'd stay here again.
