Food not served on Monday night, so contingency plans needed. Needed an extra blanket as the night was going down into single digits, but was told there are no extra blankets. A bit noisy with respect to pub clientele.

Really good value hotel. Very clean. The room was quite big and the bathroom appeared quite recently appointed. The only setback is that the single glazed window (which is period for this property) didn’t shield much of the noise from the road, and the lovely big 4 poster bed creaked a lot. I found wearing earplugs was really useful. But that’s because I am used to silence where I live. The hotel was only about 15 mins walk from the centre of town and you can take a shortcut along the riverside walk. The hotel car park is also free ( big bonus). I would definitely stay again.

A nice space to use as a base for visiting York. A short walk from the city centre - and a stone's throw from a walk along the river - it's a pleasant, comfortable stay. My room was basic but comfortable and had everything I needed. It was also very quiet despite being part of a pub.

Property was excellent value for money, a short walk outside York city centre. Room was more than adequate, clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was full English with possibly the largest piece of black pudding I've seen. The bar is well stocked and we ate there on our first night, food was good and reasonably priced.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Light Horseman and it will be top of our list for our next stop in the city.

The room we stayed in wasn’t nice at all. The bathroom smelt like drains, the shower kept going cold, the sealant was missing and mouldy, there was a big rumbling noise every time you turned a tap on or flushed the toilet.
The rest of the room was a mess the carpet had big brown stains everywhere like something had been spilt and just left to dry. Coffee and tea stains all over the counter and you have to really slam the door to close it.
All in all it was just GRIM!
