Grab a ticket for Boston's New England Aquarium, a four-storey educational facility that is one of the city's most famous destinations. It's most famous for its 200,000 gallon tank that has been built to appear as though it were a Caribbean coral reef, filled with diverse marine life like lionfish, sea turtles, moray eels, bonnethead sharks and more! Among the exhibits inside the aquarium is a gigantic 150,000 square gallon penguin exhibit where visitors can get face to face to Southern rockhoppers and smaller penguin species. A number of informative, educational exhibits are available for you to explore, such as the Freshwater Gallery, which holds a wealth of information and displays about freshwater fish in South America, including anacondas, Atlantic salmon, and even piranha. The Tropical Gallery introduces visitors to tropical fish, cuttlefish, and famous venomous fish. The Blue Planet Action Center also educates visitors about the challenges faced by the planet's oceans, and what we can do to help save them. Plus, catch an educational movie at the Simons IMAX Theater! This trip is perfect for children and families, allowing them to enjoy the wonders of the oceans while learning about what can be done to help preserve the ecosystem.
