This is the first national museum in Hokkaido, dedicated to displaying the history and culture of the Ainu people. The exhibition is divided into a basic exhibition room narrated from the perspective of the Ainu people and a special exhibition room for visitors to visit. In addition to the exhibition room, the museum also has a theater showing films. In addition, the museum shop also offers a variety of handicrafts and original goods for visitors to purchase.
Lunch is free and you can choose from four restaurants. There are Ainu cuisine and desserts produced in the province, as well as a museum shop selling special souvenirs of Ainu culture!

Wir hatten nicht viel Zeit, um die gesamte Anlage zu erkunden, und der uns zugewiesene „Führer“ spricht nur Japanisch. Der Fahrer und die Kontaktperson haben uns nur hin und zurück gefahren; es ist eher eine selbstgeführte Tour. Trotzdem war das Erlebnis unvergesslich und der Besuch dieses Ortes hat sich gelohnt.
Dies ist keine geführte Tour. Wir trafen uns mit der verantwortlichen Person am Sammelpunkt und wurden zum Bus nach Upopoy gebracht. Die Busfahrt dauerte eine Stunde. Die Sitze waren ziemlich eng, da ein kleiner Van eingesetzt wurde, wahrscheinlich wegen der kleinen Teilnehmer. Wir waren die einzigen ausländischen Teilnehmer neben etwa sechs alten japanischen Damen. Bei der Ankunft gab uns eine andere verantwortliche Person ein Ticket und gab eine einfache Erklärung auf Japanisch, die wir überhaupt nicht verstanden. Von diesem Punkt an war alles frei und unkompliziert. Es gab einige Aufführungen mit englischem Audioguide. Ausstellungen und Workshops sind alle auf Japanisch. 90 % der Museumsstücke werden mit englischen Erklärungen präsentiert, was für uns wirklich gut genug war. Wir durften einfache Ainu-Kostüme kostenlos anprobieren und wurden von einem hilfsbereiten und freundlichen Personal fotografiert. Workshops wie Sticken und Holzschnitzen sind gegen eine Gebühr von 1000 Yen verfügbar. Das ist zwar erschwinglich, dauert aber 60 Minuten, sodass nicht mehr viel Zeit bleibt, um das Museum zu erkunden. Die Landschaft ist wunderschön, wir wünschten, wir hätten länger als 4 Stunden dort bleiben können. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob es daran liegt, dass wir früh morgens dort waren, da waren nicht viele Besucher. Dies ist wirklich ein verstecktes Juwel, da es nicht von XHS und seinen Benutzern verunreinigt wurde (wenn Sie wissen, was ich meine).
Dies war ein Shuttlebus mit einem englischsprachigen Reiseführer, der uns den Aufbau des Ainu-Kulturzentrums erklärte, und dann hatten wir Zeit zur freien Verfügung (ca. 4 Stunden), um uns umzusehen, Live-Auftritte anzusehen und zu essen. Ich fand es sehr interessant, bin aber auch an der einheimischen Kultur interessiert.
