Xie Zilong Photography Art Museum Located in Area D of Yanghu Wetland Park, Changsha, the museum was founded by photography artist, Chairman of the Hunan Photographers Association, and Chairman of LBX Pharmacy Chain Co., Ltd., Mr. Xie Zilong, with an investment of 150 million RMB. It is currently a non-profit photography art museum in China, open to the public since September 16, 2017. The museum was designed by the renowned architectural artist, Dean of the School of Architecture of Hunan University, Mr. Wei Chunyu and his team, and won the 2019 Asian Architects Association Building Award for Public Facilities - Cultural and Institutional Buildings, which is a prestigious architectural design award in Asia.
The museum has a total construction area of 10,600 square meters and is cast in white fair-faced concrete in one go—experiencing photographic art through the building itself is a resistance and subversion of the current flashy architectural language, returning to the essence of architecture and art. The main building has four floors. The first floor is an art and culture space with an art shop, café, Shunka Shuto Japanese cuisine, multi-functional hall, waterfront public exhibition area, and special exhibition hall. The second and third floors are professional art exhibition halls of 4,000 square meters, with an exhibition line of 1,000 meters, exhibition walls up to 10 meters high, and as long as 40 meters, using German Erco professional exhibition lighting. The fourth floor houses a collector's club, library, a full set of Swedish Profoto high-end photography studio and gallery.
As a professional, high-end, and palatial photography art museum, the Xie Zilong Photography Art Museum integrates image collection, exhibition, academic research, and exchange, and is committed to becoming an important window for spreading Chinese photography art and promoting the development of Chinese photography art.
