We stayed on the 14th floor. It was very clean, staff was very friendly and accommodating and answered all our questions. Very nice location with everything in walkable distance. The only downside is that the walls can be a little bit thin. We could sometimes hear voices, and slamming doors. We do know this is a very old building, so we took that into account. Otherwise, we loved this hotel.

Staff are extremely friendly, we were even offered to check in earlier than expected since the room was ready!

This was my first time stay at this hotel. It is located near Union Square and all the other hotels so it is easy to take public transportation from here to get all over the city. The room was spacious. The front desk was very friendly, but it was not easy to request an early check-in or a late checkout. The hotel does not have parking, but will recommend other lots that are walkable to the hotel. Overall, it was a pleasant experience I would stay here again.

I stayed here for the first time post remodel and it was super clean and well maintained. The area has really been cleaned up. I am hoping the hotel does not let the rooms get run down and keeps them up and looking fresh and clean.

Nice and secure

Beautiful upgraded king suite on the 10th floor. Quiet corner room away from elevators and common areas. Friendly, efficient staff. Perfect getaway in the city.

Allowed a complimentary early checkin and cleaning staff did exceptional job of daily refreshing room. Rooms are quite spacious.

Loved everything except the noise. I was on the 7th floor street side. So loud, especially at night.

To tier, our room was cleaned daily. All necessities restocked without having to contact front desk. Walking distance to shopping stores. Multiple food places to choose from on the same street, walking distance. Location was great.

I come to San Francisco 1-3 times a week from Los Angeles for business and recently the Cliff Royal Sonesta is the hotel I call first. When you’re away from home, you want to feel at home and that’s what the staff there do for me (and my chihuahua) every time. My first time staying there I had got a junior suite but the gentleman at the front desk said he would upgrade me to a full suite for a very minor fee of $60 dollars. I was not expecting a Vegas style penthouse with a full sized dining table, sectional couch, lovely decor and a nice sized bedroom. Ever since then whenever I call the front desk, they reserve that same room for me. That’s how you really make a guest feel at home. Then, the last time I stayed there m one of the two tvs wasn’t working so the lady at the front desk said she would switch me to another room. I was very concerned that I wasn’t being downgraded but that’s not at all what she had in mind. Just when I thought I found the perfect suite, she upgraded me again for free to an even bigger suite with an even larger bedroom, slightly larger living room with a bar and a walk in closet. Both suites were comparable or nicer than the biggest suites at the st Regis and four seasons except 10% the price of the st Regis and about $8,000 dollars cheaper than the four seasons (depending on the date, st Regis can be that expensive too). 5/5 will be staying here again (probably within 24-48 hours of writing this).
