Asimolar is a find! We could hear the ocean sounds at night and in the morning we walked to the beach. We spent time in the tide pools and watched the morning surfers

Location was great. Walls were very thin though

The Asilomar Conference Grounds is an interesting property. It has the feel of nicer Boy/Girl Scout Camp! It is a sprawling complex of buildings in a great location to tour 17 Mile Drive or see a great sunset on Asilomar State Beach. There is a lovely central Lodge and the night we arrived there was a musical act playing out back and the place was full of energy with a few bar stations and a food vendor set up. Super cool vibe. Our room was a little antiquated to say the least but it served our needs especially since we were a family of five. We were all in one room with a full bed and 3 twins...and a fire place! There was a separate sink area, toilet, and shower...all very outdated, but again, functional. No TVs in the room but there was WIFI. No A/C that we could identify. Front desk was very receptive to bring us more towels and pillows. Again, no frills, but served our family of five at a decent price, and no bed sharing for the kids so there was that!

Great Julia Morgan architecture and fantastic to be able to walk to the beach! Great location close to 17-Mile Drive and Carmel. Convenient parking and close to Highway 1. Friendly staff and good coffee shop onsite.

It’s a 1950s era YMCA style “hotel”. The location is the ONLY good thing about this place. My room cost 370 , and I got no tv, no fridge, no coffee, and a ceiling with many open cracks . This place is simply a run down has been.

My only suggestion would be for smaller or à la carte menu items for the dining hall as it would be wonderful to enjoy that even if one didn’t wish for a full meal. Thank you

The room was dated (think 1960s) and that was fine with me, but it had not been cleaned thoroughly and I found old food on the floor under the night table. The rooms need maintenance- one louver window glass was broken and 1 of the 4 did not open, the water came out of the shower rusty, and the toilet constantly refilled to the point we shut the water off so we could sleep. These are basic obvious maintenance items, so there is no excuse for it really. The beds also only had 1 pillow each. I was told at the desk the pool was heated and there would be towels at the pool, but the pool was really cold and there were no towels. The property had some things going for it- the location was amazing across from the beach, it was an interesting property with deer outside my room, and they had live music on Friday night as part of a summer series. Walking the boardwalk across the dunes was nice, so was having a room with 4 beds. I actually would stay here again because I know what to expect, but I'd be disappointed if I came here for a conference.

We enjoyed the outdoor fields of the property the swimming pool, the beach the views was super magnificent. The only thing was our room had massive spiderwebs, and I know that they were really high ceilings because we were on the second floor, but looking up at night and seeing all the spiderwebs swaying moving were kind of not what we wanted but other than that, it was a great day

Everything was great, best place we’ve ever stayed in the Monterey area!
