We had a fantastic stay at this hotel and would absolutely return next time we're in Hakodate. The location is unbeatable—conveniently right next to the JR station, with countless excellent restaurants just a short walk away. The highlight, without a doubt, was the breakfast. It’s the first time we’ve ever seen a sushi train included in a hotel buffet! We indulged in fresh sashimi, scallops, and a variety of sushi right from the conveyor belt—it was a dream for seafood lovers. The room itself was spacious by Japanese standards and very comfortable. We loved the view overlooking the harbour and the city. The staff were incredibly attentive and spoke good English, making communication seamless. A unique touch was the pillow corner, where you could choose your perfect pillow for a great night's sleep. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back!

Great location and all public transports are nearby. Good breakfast and nice public bath and relaxation area on top floor!

The hotel is in a very convenient location right in with the Hakodate station. The rooms are clean and comfortable and relatively spacious for Japanese hotels. The top floor onsen has amazing views of the rail yards and harbour.

Extremely convenient location with a direct connection to the JR Hokkaido railway station and two blocks from the seafood market that is chock full of seafood eateries, especially for king crab.

Enjoyed the Ibsen, good location at the train / bus station.

We had a very pleasant stay at JR Inn Hakodate and would highly recommend it, especially for travelers using public transport. The hotel’s biggest advantage is its excellent location. Being directly connected to JR Hakodate Station made it incredibly convenient for arrival, sightseeing, and catching our early 8am flight from Hakodate Airport. The airport bus is easily accessible, making departure stress-free. Our room was comfortable and adequately sized, although the bathroom was the smallest we encountered during our Hokkaido trip. It was functional but felt a little cramped compared to other hotels we stayed in. Check-in service was excellent. The staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful with luggage storage before check-in. Do note that room access is strictly from 3pm onwards. Guests who are comfortable with Japanese onsen culture can also make use of the shared public bath, which is a great way to relax after a day of exploring. The hotel is surrounded by plenty of dining options, and souvenir shopping couldn’t be easier with a large selection of local products available just downstairs. Overall, JR Inn Hakodate offers outstanding convenience, friendly service, and a fantastic location. It is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Hakodate, especially those arriving by train or departing on an early flight.
