Used SG ReDiscover Vouchers to book the trip. It was our first time to the Southern Islands and we were looking forward to it. We had never used Marina South Pier for travel, and registering our attendance was fuss-free: a coloured sticker to denote our group, guidance and instructions for embarkation. In the week prior to the trip, our trip administrator was Jack, and he was very thorough and active in grouping us appropriately, answering queries, giving us updates leading up to the day. My wife and I were allocated to group B, led by Mr Ng HJ. Very friendly man, truly enthusiastic about the trip, able to keep track of the group, lead the group, knows a lot about the islands and the information was very interesting and helpful for us. The walking activity had plenty of stops at various points of interest, and it was never boring to stop. Whether it's the stories or the wildlife around you, you'll be constantly immersed and mesmerised, it's wonderful for history and nature buffs, and amazing if you're both. On a hot day, bring your full gear for sunny weather, including ample water, and don't skimp on it. We got onto St. John's Island at 9:30 am, followed the guided tour, then crossed the causeway to Lazarus Island for some OTOT activity. Wife and I chose to walk to Seringit and Kias islands for a quick look, while the rest of the group opted to hang around the apparently iconic Lazarus beach with leisure yachts dotting the tiny bay. By 12:30 pm we were ready to board the incoming craft to Kusu Island, where we listened to the history of the temple and the hilltop Datuk Kong shrine, and got a quick look at the red-eared sliders (tortoises). The ferry to bring us back to the mainland arrived at about 2:10 pm, so it was a total of 4+ hours spent around the islands. The guides (the tour company) anticipated the crowds and ferry timings well and made sure to get the whole group queuing early for the ferries. Food-wise, if you had a good breakfast, you don't need to bring any food with you, just some munchies for energy to walk around the islands. Time-wise, some may find that the guided part may be too long and left little for self-directed recreation. It seemed that there was flexibility for anyone to choose to split from the tour groups and follow their own itinerary, though I think most or all of us simply followed the tour timings. The islands are gorgeous. The weekend crowds are huge, but there are relatively quiet and shaded spots to be at. 10/10 will check out tours similar to this.

Our guide, Ms. Corliss, made the journey enjoyable. Cool breeze & pretty nice views. Bentos were good & the ondeh ondeh desserts were good too 👍 Using the cultural pass to look see look see the Singapore River is quite good for family bonding too!
