Overall, we had a nice stay at the JW Marriott and enjoyed the property. We used points for this trip as a birthday treat for myself and my family, and we still made the most of our getaway.
My only disappointment was the pre-arrival communication. A staff member reached out before check-in asking about our stay and preferences. I mentioned it was my birthday, and they responded with some thoughtful suggestions, including a birthday cake and helping with dinner reservations. I replied with my preferences and was genuinely looking forward to those little touches.
Unfortunately, there was no cake when we arrived, and I don’t believe the dinner reservation we discussed was made either, so we made our own plans. I certainly don’t expect special treatment for my birthday, but since the hotel reached out and offered these things, it was disappointing to have those expectations set and then not followed through on.
The hotel itself was still very nice, and we enjoyed our family getaway. I just wish the pre-arrival communication had matched the experience once we arrived.
