The room offered was not what was booked through hotels.com. There was construction in the area where we had booked. I personally in the group had to leave to find a room elsewhere because staff said they didn’t even have rooms like the one advertised on hotels.com

Completely messed up the reservation. The room offered did not match what we booked on hotels.com. They were unwilling to fix it so one person had to leave the property to get a room elsewhere.

Staff support was absolutely lacking. 0 client orientation and poor training on restaurants. We have to call 5 times to get shampoo in the room and although we pay all inclusive, at the end of our stay the bar man at the library bar asked us to pay…. Worst stay in a hotel. Do not stay here, plenty of options in Zanzibar, Melia should not be rated as a 5 starts hotel.

Initially we had some issues with our villa and with the condition of its balcony, which was due for refurbishment as the neighbouring villa was being worked on - so it wasn’t a great start, however the staff were attentive and sorted us out by relocating us a brand new private villa which in one word was WOW! Everything else was excellent and would most certainly recommend.

This is my second time staying at Meliá, and it won’t be my last. It’s not only because the hotel and grounds are beautiful. It’s the staff, they are exceptional, they’re the most friendly, smiley, professional and provide amazing service. Every room is cleaned twice a day and I’ve left valuables lying around and everything has always been safe. My only complaint this time was that there was no working light in the shower but other than that everything was 10/10.
