Tempus Hotel Taichung

Overall I thought it was not worth the price. The building was old and the hotel did not keep up with time. The service was just mediocre. I asked to combine the two double beds and was right out denied. Also, there were no toiletries in the room.

What happened to the Tempus? I have stayed at the Tempus countless times in the past, and it was always a great stay in a fantastic location in Central Taichung. It seems that since the sale of the property back in 2023, the management has refocused on profitability at the expense of the patrons. All of the previous amenities have been eliminated, no room service, no laundry, almost no staff, and the once exceptional breakfast has been reduced to a truly disappointing presentation in the windowless basement. I'll never go back.

WiFi was not stable & quite poor

Location was great for us. Older building but kept clean. Staff was great.

So I’ll lead off by saying this was probably my 10-11th stay at the Tempus. I stayed there regularly over the years for business so when I took my family I thought the experience would be great as usual. WRONG. In its day I would have rated it an 4 or 5, but those days are over: Apparently the Tempus is under new ownership and although the staff is great the hotel has gone downhill. The focus has turned to renting out floors to businesses and rooms as apartments for city dwellers. The breakfast used to be amazing and on the main floor. It’s moved into the basement and the food quality is poor, a mere afterthought to what it was. The rooms although clean, are dated and seemed to have patch jobs all over. No soap was in our room and upon asking we were told the hotel was out of soap and we were told to use the shampoo in the shower. In the shower the shower head was broken so rather than repair it they put in a secondary hand held sprayer that sits at waist level (I’m 5’9, have fun tall folks). The complimentary safe had an out of order sticker on it as did the room our friends were staying in. The bar is now shut down as is the spa. In the end they have lost a long time customer and I should’ve stayed at the splendor or the evergreen which are still up to snuff and right down the road. Best I can say about the Tempus is that the location is great, but stay away.l, it’s trash claiming to be a 5 star hotel.

Dusty room, listing had a hot tub but it was a spa you had to pay for. They had a play area for the kids which is why we picked the hotel, but the main attraction ( motorized cars” was closed due to “maintenance issues”( i.e. the batteries caught fire) no hand soap so if you wanted to wash your hands at the sink you needed to first go into the shower to grab soap from the dispenser.

Very outdated no phone charging terminals , room was cold so had to ask for heating, on asking the staff said no one else has asked for heating, room was very dirty in some places and the bedding had seen better days

Service at the front desk. They were most helpful in helping us with travel and visa processing. They were also very good at room arrangements when visa issues caused a flight delay.

The hotel is clean but quite old. Washroom does not have any soap for handwash. Need every time to walk inside the shower place to get the soap. The safe not work at the moment.

Our room was old and the bathroom moldy. The reception area looked like a bureaucrat’s office. Will not stay here again.
