Great breakfast, comfortable bed, had a gym and pool which we did not have an opportunity to try.
Staff did not explain that room key was needed for the elevator upon checkin.
Received texts asking about our "current" stay when we had already checked out, which was confusing.

La ubicación es fabulosa, se puede ir andando a casi todos los lados y las paradas de bus y tren están muy cerca. Para ir con familia es un hotel que cumple con todas las expectativas, la piscina y el gym correcto. La cama y la habitación también cumple con lo esperado. El desayuno bastante completo y tienes la posibilidad de café y té las 24h. Tiene fuente de agua en la planta 2 y máquinas de hielo.

Hampton Inn & Suites on Illinois in downtown Chicago is a typical hotel. Our family of four only needed a two-bedroom room for a one-night stay, but it was a bit cramped.
Check-in was straightforward, and Raul, one of the two welcoming staff members, assisted us. However, the other staff members were less friendly.
The hotel is inviting when you walk in and clean.

You cannot adjust the thermostat and it will blast A/C at 62 degrees even though temp is set at 74 degrees. You cannot make the temp any higher than 74 degrees. I called front desk and their technician's best recommendation was to turn off the AC completely but that made the room really humid and could not get a good sleep.
No fresh fruit at breakfast buffet unless you count dried up apples and oranges.
I have stayed at both high end and budget hotels. Budget shouldn't have to mean mediocre. For example, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Inn at Aurora is exceptional value and Hampton Inn should learn a thing or two from them.

We had a clean room. The toilet tank would not fill when we arrived and was resolved quickly after arrival.
