One of the highlights of our trip to Japan! We attended the Sumo Morning Practice on 24 May 2026, the day of the Tokyo Grand Sumo Tournament final, and it was an unforgettable experience. Before this visit, I knew very little about sumo. Watching the wrestlers train up close gave me a completely new appreciation of the discipline, dedication, strength and hard work behind this fascinating sport. What I loved most was the authenticity. This was not a staged tourist attraction but a genuine opportunity to observe a real morning practice and understand the daily life of professional wrestlers. We could feel the intensity and commitment of the athletes. The interaction at the end was another highlight. The wrestlers were welcoming and happy to answer even our most curious questions. We had a wonderful experience visiting Ikazuchi stable with our guide, Momo. She was extremely knowledgeable and shared a wealth of information about the traditions, training, and daily life of the wrestlers. Her kindness and professionalism made the tour both engaging and comfortable. It was also clear that she was well-respected by the stable master, okamisan (his wife), and the wrestlers themselves, which added a sense of warmth and authenticity to the visit. Momo's assistant was also very helpful and attentive, which made the experience even smoother and more enjoyable. It was also a very special place to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The wrestlers were incredible during the practice session, graciously took time for Q&A, and even surprised us by singing happy birthday to him. It’s an experience we will never forget! Quina experiència més increïble. Va ser genial aprendre i veure els lluitadors fer una pràctica en directe. Totes les persones són extremadament amables. Rebràs una introducció informativa al parc abans d'anar a l'estable. Un cop a l'estable, podràs gaudir d'una sessió de pràctica en directe amb una sessió de preguntes i respostes al final... a més d'una foto! Recomanat al 1000%.

The whole experience was amazing. Ryoko and her colleague are really warm and helpful. The training itself is very interesting and fun to watch. The sumo wrestlers at the stable are not only really good to watch, but kind with us at the end of the practice at the Q&A and photos.

This is an authentic Sumo Wrestling Practice, held at a Sumo Stable near Asakusa Tokyo. This is NOT a demonstration for tourists, but rather a peak into the intense techniques that current Sumo Wrestlers and wrestlers-in training use to build their strength, endurance and power. They provide a PDF about this specific stable, which was an informative and quick read before the practice. My 2 sons are HS wrestlers, and really appreciated the intensity of the practice. Our tour guide Manao was wonderful. 👍

Aquest va ser un dels moments més destacats del meu viatge al Japó. Veure els lluitadors entrenar de prop em va donar una nova apreciació per la dedicació, la disciplina i el treball dur que requereix el sumo. La pràctica es va sentir molt autèntica i respectuosa, i la interacció exclusiva posterior va fer que l'experiència fos encara més memorable. La Ryoko va ser una guia fantàstica. Era amable, coneixedora i va fer que tothom se sentís benvingut durant tota l'experiència. Les seves explicacions ens van ajudar a entendre millor les tradicions i la cultura del sumo, cosa que va fer la visita encara més agradable. Poder veure els lluitadors en un entorn tan íntim va ser una cosa que mai podria experimentar a casa. Vaig gaudir tant d'aquesta experiència que penso portar la meva família la propera vegada que visiti el Japó. Si esteu interessats en la cultura japonesa o la lluita de sumo, us recomano molt aquesta excursió. Va ser una experiència inoblidable i va valer molt la pena. 🇯🇵🏆💪🏻

This was one of the highlights of my trip. Sumo is so cool, and it was an honor to spectate these athletes. I hope to return and see them in competition someday. Our guide was awesome too. Karin was informative and able to help us with Q&A after the practice. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Tokyo!

Amazing experience! Absolute must do on your trip to Tokyo! We already want to come back for a tournament. The training was very informative, and it makes you want to turn around and book a trip right back!

this was one of the highlights of our trip to Tokyo. I highly recommend visiting a sumo stable if you get the chance. we had an an amazing tour guide, Ryoko, who was so friendly and knowledgeable. we had the option to have brunch together after the training session and I highly recommend going. it is a small fee but worth it.
