This tour gave me a deeper understanding of Korea’s modern history and the struggles behind its journey toward democracy. Visiting places connected to these events made the stories feel more real and memorable than reading about them alone. Our guide, Gina, helped connect each stop to the wider historical picture. I appreciated how she explained a complex subject in a way that was easy to follow while still acknowledging its difficult and emotional aspects. Her explanations gave meaning to places I might otherwise have passed without a second thought. What stayed with me most was the courage of ordinary people who stood up for change during difficult times. Some moments were sobering, but they encouraged me to reflect on the history behind the Korea we see today. This was a meaningful addition to my time in Seoul, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in looking beyond the usual tourist sights. La Laura ha estat fantàstica com a guia. És atenta, detallista i, de vegades, animada, cosa que ens ha donat molta alegria durant les quatre hores de sessió. Ha estat un recorregut tan agradable com educatiu; hem après molt sobre el costat més fosc de la història de Corea i ens han inspirat els joves i valents patriotes que van lluitar amb les seves vides per aconseguir la independència de Corea.

Em va sorprendre gratament la qualitat d'aquest tour. La nostra guia, la Gina, va ser excepcional. Va ser amable, coneixedora i molt informativa durant tota l'experiència. Em vaig unir al tour sola, però tot i així m'ho vaig passar molt bé i no em vaig sentir fora de lloc. Aprendre sobre la història de l'era colonial de Corea va ser revelador. La Gina va donar vida a cada lloc amb les seves històries i explicacions. Recomanaria aquest tour a tothom que estigui interessat a aprendre més sobre la història moderna de Corea.

I’m especially glad I included this tour in my visit to Seoul. It offered a different perspective on the city and introduced me to an important part of Korea’s recent history. Exploring the places associated with its path toward democracy added depth to my trip and gave me plenty to think about afterward. Gina made the experience especially memorable. Her explanations helped me follow the sequence of events and understand how the different locations fitted into the bigger story. I enjoyed discovering the significance of places I might have overlooked and seeing the city through a different lens. The subject matter was sometimes heavy, but that was also what made the tour worthwhile. It invited reflection and helped me appreciate the people and struggles behind modern Korea. Vaig fer un tour fantàstic amb la Cecilia. Té molts coneixements i es va prendre el temps per respondre les nostres preguntes. Les seves explicacions van ser clares i em van ajudar a entendre la importància de la presó i a aprofundir en el meu coneixement de la història coreana. Ho recomano molt als meus companys aficionats a la història!!

I had a really wonderful time with my guide for the tour, Ms Laura. I was the only one on the tour but the quality of the tour was not at all compromised. Ms Laura provided very detailed explaination of the prison and the history. In addition, she also helped to take photos at all the notable locations to help leave behind memories of the visits. The tour itself is well planned, if it is your first time, you can experience not only the prison museum but also taking the subway and the park. Laura continued to provided small little bits of info along the way, keeping the tour interesting and informative. Definitely recommend for both first timer and seasoned travellers who have yet to visit the area.

This tour is great for if you want to gain more understanding about Korea's independence movement. The things you learn from this tour can be tough to hear but it is definitely worth it to learn about. I ended up being the only person on the tour and Joon did a great job in explaining the displays and giving more information and stories than what was available to read in English. Joon was friendly and attentive and always ready to answer any questions. I gained a lot of knowledge today and had an enjoyable time during the tour. There is a very steep slope on the way to Dilkusha and might be a difficult walk for some people.

Such a good tour!! Jonathon has been a great guide. From telling you the dark history of South Korea’s military dictatorship and brutal crackdowns to what to eat at Tongin Market, this tour is nothing but amazing.
