Absolutely appaling stay at the Thanet ... As so incredibly often in these hotels the tv didn't work and as usual the staff feign surprise & promise to have it mended 'for the next people' .... I am used to that but this was also filthy, noisy and badly maintained (shower was a dribble and cold tap in the basin simply didn't work) ... All in horrendous stay and terrible service

Poor maintenance and smell

Room was not ready and poorly maintained. No amenities , no towel provided.

Gross place but cheap. Fine for a boys night out but don’t take your wife. Staff hit and miss. Great location

Absolutely without any question the worst hotel I’ve stayed in ever. EVER. And I’ve been to 121 countries. The “en-suite” didn’t include a toilet, the window wouldn’t open, there was no air con in the room during a heatwave, the whole place was falling apart and the TV didn’t work. Oh and when you arrive, there is nobody on reception and 15 minutes may pass until there is. Just awful.

The shower curtain looked like builders had used it to cover something. Also shower light not working. Basement room was cool and comfy bed were the only saving grace

Horrible don’t stay here

I’m keen to stress the hotel was cheap and there’s a bit of you get what you pay for. But the accommodation was very poor. A few points of note: A terrible sewage smell that came from our ensure and what looked to be human faeces dry in the floor, I’m assuming a waste pipe had broken under the floor. The room was full of fly’s, most like attracted by the sewage smells. The bed base / springs had almost completely collapsed so you ended up sleeping in a “V” The fire door to our room had significant gaps (that might be an issue in itself) but this let a lot of sound from the corridor with people coming and going throughout the night. The curtains had no backing so the room was very light in the early hours, I get this is a first world problem but combined with the loud noises and smell it was not a good place to sleep. Generally the hotel is in poor condition, with holes in the floors and very run down. I would recommend you spend a little more money before booking!

This hotel has a great location, but that iis really all that it has going for it. It has a general air of being run down and uncared for - in my room the TV didn't work, the cold tap in the bathroom sink only released a tiny trickle of water and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work, meaning that mould was beginning to grow in the shower. Cleanliness levels were unacceptable, and when I asked on the second day why the room hadn't been cleaned, I was told that I would have to pay extra for for thid.

It was a disgusting room, black mould and fixing held on with tape. All round dirty room, the carpet was filthy
