We booked this hotel largely because of its location. On that count, it's a winner. Lots of excellent dining options and only a few blocks from the Eiffel Tower and a bus stop. Our room was basic, clean and refreshed daily. The beds were comfy. The walls are thin, but thanks to white noise, we slept remarkably well. Our initial welcome by the apparent owner was less than ideal; be aware that local tax is not included in your Expedia reservation. But the rest of the staff was very cordial and attentive; they helped us book a taxi for our departure. The wifi worked well and there's AC! But... there is no lift and a tight spiral staircase is a challenge with luggage and noisy when guests come and go in early morning and late night. And... the rooms are tiny and cramped; two twin beds (side-by-side) with just enough space between the bed and walls to squeeze into bed. We're pretty slim; not sure how someone with any girth would make it. There's little room for much else, including luggage (no dresser), At least there's room under the bed for a slim suitcase. And the very small shower requires dexterity and a slim profile. And we saw some black mold. Breakfast in the hotel is not included in the price, but there are nice options in the neighborhood. If you're looking for basic housing and willing to put up with limited space and basic comforts, Hotel Malar could work for you. But if we were to return, we'd explore other options before rebooking.

Upon arrival at the Hotel Malar for our four-night stay, we noticed a significant amount of black mold in the shower. We notified Expedia as well as the man at the front desk. The next day, we told a different man at the front desk, who promised to remedy the situation. A day later, the mold was still in the shower. We notified the man at the front desk again, who said they would have to regrout the shower that day. The problem never was fixed. Upon our return to the U.S., we notified Expedia agent Richard Kiel, who called the Hotel Malar. His response to us: "Hi, thank you for patiently waiting. I was able to speak with the property regarding your concern. They advised that, according to their records, no issues or concerns were reported to the front desk during your stay. As a result, they are not willing to provide any compensation or refund for this case. "I sincerely apologize, but my ability to challenge this decision is limited, as the final determination regarding compensation rests with the property." So, in addition to running a dirty hotel, the staff of the Hotel Malar are liars as well!

All attractions close by at walking distance , safe and quiet area . Very friendly staff , 24/7 present . Would stay again

This property is in an amazing location and the staff were so helpful and kind. Perfect room for getting ready, sleeping, and enjoying Paris!!

Great for a short stay!

The staff that checked us in was great, very kind and helpful. Even carried some of our bags up the four flights of stairs to the fourth floor! The other person who was at the front desk was not very helpful. Pack light, there is no elevator and the stairs are skinny.

Great hotel!

Two words: BED BUGS!!

I was shocked when I had to walk off a very narrow circular stairwell of the fourth floor and I'm opening the door and found a very small room in a shower then I could barely fit into. Our safe was locked and I requested them to unlock the safe which they never did this place they call a hotel. Now while I will give them credit because the bill is over 200 years old that didn't make up for the fact that we were waking we were awakened every morning with construction just outside the building. When we finally checked in. It's within reasonable walking distance of the Eiffel Tower and some other minor sites. But unfortunately but unfortunately I cannot give them a good rating in addition the pillows are no thicker than toilet paper and the blankets barely cover the width of the bed which is reasonably small in itself.

No elevator, good location Pack light
