Our guide was Jane and she texted us a day before to confirm the details and also to provide clear instructions for the actual day. On the day itself, Jane was very friendly and gave clear information on the plan and also gave very good suggestions on our own itineraries. She shared everything in both English and Chinese, and made sure everyone could understand her. The day tour itself was mostly free and easy and Jane shared plenty about the water town and the Great Wall in the bus. We had plenty of time to explore both the water town and the Great Wall itself. We did the Great Wall in the evening and had the most wonderful weather and view during golden hour. I would recommend visiting the Simatai Great Wall over the Badaling and Mutianyu, and will definitely recommend booking this day tour.

Guide Susie provided excellent service. She gave clear and organized information, including appointments, as well as basic advice. The one-day trip was also very convenient, and the group members were very punctual, which made the trip very enjoyable.

Meetup was seamless. During the tour, even though there were a mix of different itineraries, she had everything well-within control, taking care of everyone needs. Her attention to details and thoughtfulness really gave me a peace of mind as this was a self guided tour and we were very far from town. Glad everything turned out well and we truly enjoyed our day at Gubei water town and the night tour of Simatai Great Wall. Thought we would missed the sunset due to sudden heavy rain but sun came out minutes later and still managed to caught a glimpse of the sunset. Highly recommend this tour to those who like great wall experience that is less crowded. Do engage Susie!

As this is more of a meet-up/pick-up (to the meeting place), brief explanations of the day’s itinerary (in both English and Mandarin), mainly to visit the Gubei Old Water Town (nice and quiet on our visit), and cable car up to the Simatai Great Wall (behind the Water town) - explore them on your own time till dark, once you set such expectations, this is a good trip to visit the places. Our guide Christina is awesome and very helpful to answer everyone’s questions, gave good tips about the Water town (what to see and eat), best time for sunset on the Great Wall and which towers to hike (if one is up to it). there are some optional selections (depends on your options and where you book from) like boat ride, hot pot lunch, Great Wall visit (we ended up doing both day and evening visits - hike when there’s light and enjoy the late afternoon views), all at reasonable group discount price. This is a no shopping trip and thanks to Christina and our driver, we had a smooth and great time.

She provided detailed information one day in advance regarding the meeting point and the full itinerary, which made everything very clear and easy to follow. She also offered us different options for visiting the Great Wall, which allowed flexibility based on our preferences. Thanks to this well-arranged planning, our time was used very efficiently throughout the trip, and we were able to enjoy each destination without feeling rushed. The overall arrangement was smooth and well-coordinated, making the entire journey comfortable and stress-free. As an additional note, we were also able to find a very nice halal Chinese restaurant in Gubei Water Town. This is particularly valuable for Muslim travelers, as halal food options can be limited in some tourist areas. It made the experience even more inclusive and enjoyable for our group.

Trip to Gubei Water Town and Simatai great wall. The tour was very well organized and ran on time throughout the day. Our guide spoke clear English and shared detailed explanations about the history of the Great Wall, making the experience both enjoyable and educational. Also can see many adorable cats in the town. There was no forced shopping or pressure to buy anything, which I really appreciated. The itinerary was structured efficiently, and everything was handled professionally. Overall, it was a smooth and worthwhile experience. Highly recommended for English-speaking travelers who want to learn more about the Great Wall's history.

Had such a great time on this trip! Our tour guide Cindy was amazing throughout the whole trip. She gave clear instructions, let us know where to go and what to see, and shared all the details in the group chat so it was super easy to follow along. She also replied really quickly which made me feel very at ease because I didn’t have to worry about getting lost during the trip. After she helped us with the tickets and entry into Gubei Water Town, we had lots of free time to explore on our own before meeting back at the designated time. It was the perfect balance between having everything organized for you and still having the freedom to enjoy the place however you wanted. Also, visiting the Great Wall in the evening was such a good idea because we got to see the sunset, and the views were incredible. I had such a wonderful day today and would definitely recommend this tour!
