2.Top of Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain) Top of Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain)

Xiangshan hiking trail is one of the most picturesque ways of climbing mountains in Taiwan. Along the Xiangshan hiking trail, visitors can always catch a glimpse of the magnificent Taipei skyline in different angles. Sweeping views of the vibrant metropolis, verdant woods, easy but spectacular walks. On the top of Xiangshan, it is an unbeatable way to overlook the whole city, including the tallest building in Taiwan, Taipei 101 tower. Most of the jaw-dropping photos you see of the Taipei night view and skyline splashed across coffee table books were taken here.

How to go to the Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain) hiking trail?

Take the Red Line 2 (Xiangshan station), leave from Exit 2 and continue walking alongside the edge of the park. At the end of this road, take a left and follow until the entrance for Xiangshan Hiking Trail, total 650 metres, around 20 mins.

From Taipei 101:
From the base of Taipei 101, walk east on Xinyi Road (信義路) for two blocks until you reach MRT Xiangshan Station, only a 15-minute walk from 101 and completely worth it. To get there faster, take a YouBike from the station across the street from 101 (MRT Exit 2), then return the bike at the park nearby the trail entrance.

Tips for going up to the top of Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain)

The hike takes a total of around 15-20 minutes to the top, and includes lots of stairs! Remember to take a left at the fork in the path. After around 8-10 minutes, there will be a landing area with facilities and restrooms where the path branches off in multiple directions.

3.Miramar Ferris Wheel Miramar Ferris Wheel

The Miramar Ferris Wheel is a 100-metre tall Ferris wheel located on the Miramar Entertainment Park overlooking Taipei. Each ride takes 17 minutes. This tallest wheel in Taipei offers a view of the surroundings and Taipei, including some important landmarks of Taipei, such as Jiannan mountain, Taipei Grand Hotel, Taipei 101 tower, Dazhi and Shilin. Inside the cabins, you can see an unobstructed view of Taipei and listen to music playing from the live bands below. The Ferris wheel itself grows brightly in different colors at night, it is a romantic place.

    • Take the Red Line 2 (Xiangshan train) to MRT Yuanshan Station. From there, take bus no. 2 or 21 to Miramar stop.
    • Take the Red Line 2 (Xiangshan train) to MRT Shilin Station. From there, take bus no. 620 to Miramar stop.
    • Take the Brown Line 1 (Wenhu train) to MRT Zhongshan Junior High School Station. From there, take bus no. 286 to Miramar stop.

By Bus:
Take bus no. 21, 110, 222, 247, 256, 267, 286, 287, 620, 646, 902, Red 2, Brown 16, Blue 7, Blue 20 or Blue 26 to Miramar Entertainment Park.

Miramar Entertainment Park Shuttle Service:

Up on Yangminshan National Park close to Chinese Culture University is likely to be the most popular night view spot in Taipei among locals, where one may find crowds or couples creating their own small world enjoying views over Taipei City.
