Highlights of the Singapore Food Festival 2019
When you think about Singapore, one of the first things that come to mind is FOOD. It’s no surprise that we have a whole calendar month of activities dedicated to this obsession with food. Some of the biggest names in the Singapore culinary scene have come together for some exciting collaborations, limited edition food items and even hands on workshops.
Get ready your loosest pants, grab your fellow foodies and get ready to discover a whole new gastronomic world!
1. Chilli Crab Ramen by IPPUDO and No Signboard Seafood
Who doesn’t love a good bowl of ramen and a good rendition of what can be considered the quintessential Singaporean dish – Chilli Crab? IPPUDO Ramen, one of the top names in the ramen game has paired up with No Signboard Seafood to come up with a Singapore Food Festival exclusive, Chilli Crab Ramen!
This bowl of ramen is the perfect blend of IPPUDO’s signature Tonkotsu soup and No Signboard Seafood’s homemade chilli crab sauce, topped off with crab claws and fried mantou toppings.

2. The 50 Cents Fest
This year, the 50 Cents Fest will focus on Hokkien heritage and traditional Hokkien dishes. For the uninitiated, the 50 cents fest is where you can get some of the best local dishes for as low as $0.50. All food items are sold in denominations of 50 cents and you can get dishes like a bowl of Buddha Jumps Over the Wall for as low as $3 and Chilli Crab for as low as $2.

50 Cents Fest

STREAT is one of the Singapore Food Festival’s most popular events and here’s why. The top names in F&B come up with the most exciting mod-sin (modern Singaporean) dishes and drinks with plenty of hands on workshops, live performances and of course celebrity chefs.
This year, there will be 12 different F&B stalls present:

There will also be a dedicated bar helmed by Origin Bar from Shangri-La Hotel with cocktails like Kopittan, made from local Kopi Vermouth and Flower Ball made with Honey Wine and Chrysanthemum flowers.

4. Jimami Tofu 5D Dining Experience
Ever wished you could taste whatever you see on the screen? The Jimami Tofu 5D experience will allow you to do just that! Enjoy a screening of the heartwarming award winning film Jimami Tofu and delight in the dishes served on screen at the same time.
This love story of a Singaporean Chef and Japanese food writer just might inspire you to fly to Okinawa to find your happily ever after. You’ll also get to meet and greet the chefs of Cookyn Inc and the makers of Jimami Tofu.

5. Singapore Tea Festival
The Singapore Tea Festival is back again for the 3rd year running. Bringing to you over 40 different tea and tea related brands, get ready for a to-tea-lly tea-rrific time! With freshly roasted teas imported directly from Japanese and Taiwanese plantations as well as modern blends like cold brewed teas and even durian tea, you’ll be spoilt for choice. There are also kuehs, chocolates and other local delights for you to pair with your tea.

6. Park Bench Deli x Candlenut Burger
Every month, the folks at Park Bench Deli collaborate with some of the best chefs in Singapore to bring you unique sandwiches and this time around, you’re in for a huge treat. 8. 7-Eleven Day
7-Eleven will also be launching a series of Ready-To-Eat items in line with the Singapore Food Festival. Get ready for your tastebuds for some Chicken Satay Onigiri, Salted Egg Tamagoyaki, and Takoyaki with Chili Crab Sauce and Egg Mayo!
The Chicken Satay Onigiri will be filled with char-grilled chicken thigh meat marinated with spices and complete with a savoury peanut sauce, The Salted Egg Tamagoyaki is fluffy and light and layered with sauce made from real salted egg yolk while the Takoyaki with Chili Crab Sauce and Egg Mayo is topped with Chilli Crab sauce made from scratch.
These items will be available islandwide starting 10th July.

10. The Kueh Kueh Symposium
If you’re a fan of kuehs, you definitely won’t want to miss the Kueh Kueh Symposium. Bringing together Singapore’s top kueh makers in one space, you can expect only the best insights and of course what everyone is most excited about, tasting the different kuehs!
There is even a panel sharing session where the kueh experts share their thoughts on this traditional craft. All this will be taking place in the heritage building of the Straits Clan.

11. Open Air Film Club: Rooftop Movie at the Hive
Rooftop movie screenings are all the rage now and as part of the Singapore Food Festival, The Hive will be screening a comedic food film “ Republic of Food”. This hit comedy is about an underground group of foodie friends who come together to enjoy good food in a world where that is forbidden. Be sure to grab some of the unlimited movie bites before you get seated so you don’t end up drooling at the mouth-watering dishes on screen.

12. Singapore Vegan Food Street Crawl
We’re all about sustainable food options these days and going vegan is the best way to start. Go on a journey around Singapore hunting down the best vegan street food and you just might discover some hidden gems. There are 3 different neighborhoods to be explored – Geylang Serai, Chinatown and Little India.
Over at Geylang Serai, snack on steamed cakes, char kway teow, laksa, kuehs and even try your hand at making popiah! Let the guide take you to some of the best spots to get these food and you might just find a new favourite along the way.

The Great Indian Food Fest is an annual Indian food extravaganza that happens at Campbell Lane! There will be 17 different food carts selling some of the most delicious Indian Fare, roving acts and heritage performers and musical bands.

15. The Mem’s Servants: A Food and Dance Experience by Project Plait and Artistry
Project Plait and Artistry have come up with a new exciting show that will truly overwhelm your senses. Watch the story of House 18, Singapore’s past as part of the Straits Settlements, unfold through a contemporary dance showcase all while indulging in a 5 course meal.
Some of their past works include mind-blowing stuff like this edible vanity kit which we’re not sure if we’ll dare to eat.

Enjoy meals prepared by celebrity chef Eric Teo and other hosts all brought to you by Dine Inn. There are plenty of menus available on the different nights and some of the most outstanding ones include Mod-sin dishes, Indonesian favourites and even Chinese dialect inspired.
