Easy check in, friendly staff, room was clean and had tons of character. A gem!

Not recommended. Scroll past. We expected a small room in Paris. However, the air conditioning wasn't working and it was very hot. There was a lot of heat generated by the fridge inside the wardrobe. The reception staff weren't interested. There was no-one, staff or customers, at breakfast at all.

The air conditioner has been broken during the the stay.

The room was small as many Parisian rooms are. The bed was uncomfortable, sagging in the middle. Very little space for luggage or for hanging clothes. Good location near the Bastille metro and bus stops. Reasonably good breakfast option.

Hotel well located but I experienced a broken aircon (at least they'd left a fan) which later leaked when repaired. Missing room items, example only tea not coffee, hand lotion no shampoo. I could hear other guests in their rooms and I'm sure they then could hear me. The one-man check in clerk on duty for first 2 days was too busy to make eye contact or leave position to assist with guests storing on bags. Wifi in room also patchy.

A cute little hotel in a great location. The room was small, but nicely decorated, very clean, had a very comfortable mattress and a bathroom that was better than average for a European hotel. The afternoon hotel clerk was especially friendly and helpful when we checked in. The only downside was our room was on the first floor and the window opened into a courtyard that needed to be tidied up.

We chose this property for our final night before departing Paris because the hotel description indicated that airport shuttle service was available. Upon check-in, the staff offered to arrange our transportation to the airport, which reinforced our understanding that a shuttle/taxi was provided. We learned that the transportation was not complementary. This was disappointing. Had we known the shuttle service was not included, we would have chosen another Hotel.

All I have to say is that staying here with no A/C and only provided a 10 inch fan was horrible. It was so humid and hot. When asked about the a/c they said no a/c till June. Either they cut it off or it was out of service.

This property was probably excellent when it first opened,,but has not been well maintained. It was clean, the location was great, the AC did not work, and it did not seem that it would be fixed soon. The price we paid was much higher than a price I saw later in a French website. Some of the photos in the brochure do accurately represent the current state of the property. I would not return.

We visited Castex as a heat wave hit Paris. We were not informed Castex had no operational air conditioning despite paying for an air conditioned room. Our room faced all day sun with temperatures reaching 40 Celsius inside during daytime and remaining above 30 Celsius all night across a stay of six days. When we complained we were offered a small bottle of water. No apology was given. We couldn’t sleep and our health suffered with need to constantly drink water as we perspired through the night. One day there was no water supply at the hotel and we couldn’t shower before going out on a hot hot day. Staff shrugged and explained nothing. Maintenance in our room was appalling. The shower permanently drooped downwards due to a worn out fixture. The fridge was useless spoiling milk and other items we needed cooled. Only one staff member, Eskanda, showed any concern and was decent and courteous during our stay. Others were rude or ignored us. The continental breakfast wasn’t, it was basic. This was our worst ever hotel experience and we’ve made formal complaints through the French Consumer Bureau. This hotel ruined our Paris holiday. The hotel did not approach 3 Star standards. Wotif provided us exemplary support when we complained but Castex is a place we will never stay at again. We await French Consumer investigation outcomes.
