Very outdated hotel. I’ve never seen a harder mattress than the ones in this hotel. The smoking floor was awful.

The Country Hotel Takayama is an excellent value budget hotel. The hotel is right next to the train station, providing easy access when pulling a suitcase. The single room was small, clean, and functional. Hotel policy is to drop off the key at the desk when leaving, which I find a little inconvenient. The price for a night's stay is really low, so I can put up with the inconvenience.

The hotel was very clean and easy to find. The location was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was very good. On the downside, the beds were hard as rocks. It felt like I was sleeping on a concrete slab. Otherwise, our stay was very good.

Conveniently located close to train station and bus terminal. Walking distance to town center. All staffs were very polite and helpful which made me feel welcoming. It was pricey for the room when we visited Takayama during the Takayama Festival, otherwise it would have been perfect.

Excellent location right next to the Bus Station. Staff was very friendly.

Lovely hotel located very close to the train. Breakfast is very much Japanese focussed (but also catered for western palates). Rooms are very small (a little dated but that didn’t bother us). Easy walk to the central historic town.

Hotel and room feel a little dated - an actual physical key to open your room door (which you are supposed to leave at reception each time you leave the hotel). Bed was very hard, but that said l did sleep well in it. Despite the dated decor and furnishings everything works and was spotlessly clean. Very handy location directly across the road from the bus terminal and train station.

This location is PERFECT! Right by the JR Train station as well as Nohi Bus Station. LOTS of shops within a minute's walk too. Very clean, has everything I needed and more. Breakfast is good. Loved the candied yams 🍠. Arigato!!

booked an economy double bed room, but at check-in the counter staff showed me a single room with a super single bed instead. When I requested to change to a double bed, one staff said there were no more rooms available. Later, another staff said a room change was possible but the price would be doubled. This showed poor communication among the staff. I also asked the counter staff if I could park at parking lot No. 1 and even showed her a photo and the CCTV for confirmation. She agreed, but later another restaurant partner came to our car to scold my family about the parking. This was very upsetting and unprofessional. However, the buffet breakfast was not bad and the breakfast staff were friendly and polite.
