My husband and I were celebrating our 30 years married this month and decided to stay at this lovely hotel, Upon Angels in Lisbon, Portugal. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room and the balcony overlooking the pool which was in a courtyard with open top so the outdoor feel with indoor feel. The bed was super comfortable and the room and building was very clean. But what really made our trip was the hotel staff and specifically Gabriel who went above and beyond to ensure we had the trip of a lifetime! And it really was a trip of a lifetime! We took day trips to Sintra and Porto ( two separate get your guide day trips). I would highly recommend looking into porto on your own though using public transportation as the day trip wasn’t our favourite. Gabriel has lots of great ideas so we asked about different restaurant suggestions and places to go and we were never disappointed by his recommendations. Gabriel, thank you for making our trip one of the best we have ever had! Definitely would return to Upon Angels.

the area is sketchy and the quality of staff are inconsistent. The day staff are better than the night staff. Rooms are not cleaned on a regular basis and we had to request cleaning

Although the decor isn’t my style, the hotel was clean, the staff was excellent, the bed was comfy and the room was quiet.

We loved this hotel, the design is very unique and the staff were friendly. It was very clean too. The only very minor issues we would say was they could do with more sun loungers in the pool area, and cleaner could be topping up the coffee machine capsules in the room. But it was such a great stay overall- we saw complaints on older reviews about noise from other rooms, but we didn't experience that!

Had an absolutely amazing time at upon angels! The staff were amazing and very attentive, and the hotel is so cute and perfect for couples looking for a romantic stay. The hotel rooms were so cute and beautifully decorated. Also our room had a mini fridge, microwave and even plates & wine glasses which was lovely so we could eat in our rooms. The rooms were also spacious, with a couch and tv that lets you connect to your phone for streaming or watch regular tv. Very nice bathroom and shower as well. The pool area was also a highlight specially with the outdoor movie nights! The staff even handed out free popcorn which was lovely. The staff were very attentive and you could even order drinks to the pool. Also rooms were also very clean and cleaning was available daily. And the AC worked well even through a bad heat wave. Absolutely will be recommending and would stay there again! Huge thank you to the staff and housekeeping for such a wonderful stay.

My room was clean but there was a water tank in my room that had the sound of dripping water at various times of the day especially at night when I was trying to sleep. Also, the rooms are not soundproof and I could hear the couple next door to me talking!

The hotel and staff were exceptional! The location was a bit rough and sketchy looking but everything was great. Going out during the day was fine, easy, and safe. The night was a bit scary but even then it wasnt too bad. Bolt and uber were available at any time. It was a great experience! We also got two bottles of wine which was unexpected but very much appreciated. Gabriel and all the other staff were lovely and extremely accommodating. We never felt like a burden.

I’d loved the historic neighborhood. The hotel is located in and the hotel itself was lovely. Very eclectic! The staff was very nice and the rooms were very clean.

The location was not the best but it was close to one of the subway lines. But we had a lot of issues with our room... - AC wasn't working for the first 12 hours or so - No hot water in the shower - Only one towel in the bathroom and when we asked the receptionist about it, her response was that we only asked for one!!! Like show me exactly when and where I said I only need one towel for two people! - Only one pair of slippers - Blood stain on the bed sheets - Clump of hair on the bathroom door handle. The manager offered us 15% refund but to me that wasn't enough. I had booked this hotel for my partner's 40th birthday and it was a disappointming experience.
