Conquering the Hong Kong Hop On Hop Off Big Bus Tour

Hong Kong has many attractions scattered all around the city. For first timers in this urban jungle, there are 18 different districts to Hong Kong. If you’re looking for a fuss free way of exploring all of Hong Kong’s famous landmarks, the iconic Hop on hop off Big Bus is perfect!

Feel the wind in your hair as you sit on the upper deck of the bus and it winds through Hong Kong’s busy streets. Take in the sights and sounds as you embark on your journey. Just alight at any of the stops, explore the area and hop back on to continue on your Hong Kong adventure.

Read on to find out whichroutes you should take and which attractions the bus routes cover.

Sights covered by the Big Bus Routes

1. Red Route - Hong Kong Island Tour

The Red Route takes you on a journey of Hong Kong Island’s northern part, looping along the harbour from Causeway Bay to Sheung Wan. If you only have time to make 1 stop, make it the Victoria Peak where you’ll get to enjoy stunning views of the city from Hong Kong’s highest peak. If you’re feeling peckish, grab an Instagram worthy rainbow cheese toast from Kala Toast!

P.S. This is the best way of getting to the peak tram because the nearest tram or MRT station is quite a walk away!

Stop by the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world, the Central Mid Levels Escalator, a unique collection of escalators and walkways. Ease your aching legs after all that shopping or stop by some of the city’s most legendary old school eateries. Grab an egg tart from Tai Cheong Bakery or have some roast goose at Yat Lok!

First bus: 0930 Duration: 1 Hr 30 Mins Frequency: 30 Mins

2. Blue Route - Kowloon

The blue route travels through the centre of Kowloon, covering Yau Ma Tei, Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui. We’d recommend this route for all the shoppaholics out there! Drop by the Ladies Market at Mongkok to get your shopping fix before heading to the Temple Street Night Market for even more shopping.

Another highlight you cannot miss is the Sky100 Observation Deck. Located on the 100th floor of the International Commerce Centre (ICC), it offers you unobstructed views of the Victoria Harbour! This is the city’s tallest building and if you’re there you should definitely take the chance to dine up at Cafe 100!

First bus:1000 Duration: 1 Hr Frequency:30-45 Mins

3. Green Route - Aberdeen & Stanley Tour

The Green Route takes you through the Southern side of Hong Kong island and some popular sights include the Aberdeen, Ocean Park, Repulse Bay and Stanley Market. Spend a day out at Ocean Park - Hong Kong’s most famous entertainment grounds, combining a theme park, marine park, oceanarium and an animal park all into one!

Be sure to Klook your Ocean Park tickets to enjoy open dated e-tickets that allow you to skip the lines and enter the park directly! Check out the Klook guide to Ocean Park to find out how to maximize your day out at this massive park.

Klook tips for the Big Bus

  • Be sure to grab a seat on the open top upper deck for the best views
  • Bring sunscreen or a cap as it can get pretty sunny up at the top
  • The 24/48 hour validity is only applicable to your Big Bus tour, so if you opt for the package, you can still use your admission tickets to Sky100 or Victoria Peak after your Big Bus Tour
  • Have your camera ready at all times!
