Reviews
The itinerary was well-planned, and the tour guide was enthusiastic, witty, and humorous. The scenery was beautiful, and the conditions at the Sahara Desert camp were quite good. Overall, I'm very satisfied.
Regarding the pick-up and drop-off, because our accommodation was located on too narrow a street for the vehicle to pick us up outside the hotel, we had to walk 350 meters away to board. For the return trip, since our hotel was too far, we selected a spot outside a downtown restaurant. However, they dropped us off 350 meters away, making us get out and haul all our luggage to the restaurant ourselves. Meanwhile, they parked 100 meters away from the restaurant to rest, watching us struggle past with all our bags. It felt like they were deliberately teasing us. Furthermore, the other passengers were not dropped off at their hotels either; everyone was dropped off on a main street. Even though we paid for a luxury tour, the promise of point-to-point service was not fulfilled. I am extremely disappointed by this. As for the accommodations, the hotel on the first night could only be described as terrifying. The moment we opened the door, we felt uneasy and uncomfortable. First of all, the hotel has new and old wings; we were assigned to the old wing, while the other group members were put in the new wing. When we asked to change rooms, they stated that the rooms were fully booked, so the tour guide swapped our room with their own modest one. That room was a wooden structure built on the rooftop, not a standard guest room for rent, and it was extremely cold and tiny, but still better than that gloomy, heavy-feeling room. When we complained to the hotel manager, they said they would cover lunch for our other two days as compensation, so we had no choice but to accept. After leaving the next day, the tour guide stated that their company could not arrange free lunches, and simply closed the complaint, which was completely irresponsible. Regarding the activity arrangements, the first two days were somewhat acceptable, but I would describe the third day as extremely grueling, consisting of a full 12 hours of driving with zero sightseeing spots, leaving me dizzy and nauseous on the bus. As for the food, I was extremely dissatisfied with the breakfast at the first hotel. Over 20 people had to queue up for a fleeting 3-second tomato and egg tagine (the only hot food), which was simply unbelievable. Additionally, the optional meals included in the itinerary reached the level of being unpalatable. The only thing I was most satisfied with was the arrangement in the desert. I advise everyone that you must pay for the luxury tour package, otherwise you will deeply regret it.
Very nice experience! It was enjoyable and one of a kind! Our guide Hamid was always helpful and accommodating.
It was worth it because the tour guide and the people I went with all liked it. It gets really cold at night in the Sahara Desert. Bring thick clothes.
Second time to Merzouga and it was a great trip! Our guide (Omar) was a great driver, took care of us well and wasnt pushy unlike some other drivers which I had previously experienced with other tours. There were some touristy components to this tour but nothing too pushy / overbearing if you do not wish to participate / purchase. We booked the luxury tent and it was worth the price.
The 3-day and 2-night itinerary is very rich, and the tour guide and driver are very funny! The group of 14 people included Spanish, British and Chilean people. The atmosphere in the car was very good and they were very friendly! I will take photos for everyone, take the initiative to chat, and have endless topics! When we went to the desert and rode a camel, everyone was very scared and kept screaming. It was a very interesting scene! ! ! You can choose to ride a 4x4 when you leave the campground! Very exciting! Recommend everyone to participate!
Overall a cool experience! Would recommend. Agreed with some previous reviews, definitely some touristy components to this tour (e.g. argan oil store stop, lunches with tourist prices, though to be fair most of what you may get in the medina area would also be jacked up prices) but nonetheless an amazing experience. You only get one day in the Sahara desert, and then last day is almost basically a full day of travelling back to Marrakech, but I think most people in the group would be tuckered out by then anyway. If you are more adventurous/prefer to spend more time in the desrt, maybe opt for a longer tour duration.
3 very very tiring days, but it was so worth it! I would definitely recommend it if you are coming to Morocco. Moha (our guide) and Hamid (our driver) were the absolute best at keeping us on schedule and making the trip as smooth as possible. The van was very comfortable and Moha was an awesome DJ when he was not giving us all his knowledge on the different places we were pacing by. The first day was full of information and amazing places to visit and you end the day at the hotel and we were not disappointed, it was good for the price you are paying. Unfortunately the weather conditions in the desert were not the best, but how many people can say that they experienced rain in the Sahara desert? Despite this, the staff in the camp were great at making sure that we were having a good time. I have to say that the chef in the desert was amazing, all of it was so tasty. We booked the luxury tent and I would say it’s definitely worth the extra bucks as well since you have your own private bathroom. The only negative thing I would point out is that this is very touristy tour, so there were a lot of other groups in the same places and all the places that they took us to lunch were with tourist prices and the quality was not amazing.
What I loved about this trip was the food. Although lunch was not included in the package but the cafe restaurants that we went to have the best authentic Moroccan food. It was a little bit pricey, though. Our driver and guide Mohammed were very friendly and helpful.
Really incredible experience. First time spend the night in the middle of desert. Hassan also help us explain everything clearly.
