We had a superb experience with a very kind gentleman who guided us through several steps of lacquering traditional spoons and chopsticks. We 100% recommend this activity. Please note that to access it, you need to go upstairs and look for the storefront with "spoon" written on it. We left with smiles and handmade chopsticks!

Such a fun experience. The gentleman who lead the class was so very kind and patient. It's an educational experience. You take part in various steps, but because of drying times, you take home what someone else started, which is pretty fun, as you get to uncover the choices of others. We really enjoyed it.

I had the most wonderful time during this traditional spoon-making experience. The master craftsman was patient, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing both the technique and the philosophy behind the craft. Highly recommended for anyone interested in this activity! oh not to forget, i get free handmade zodiac keychain from the ahjussi! it’s so cute!

Such a nice experience. We worked on a spoon and chopsticks in multiple steps, building on top of what previous customers had created, and leaving our partial creations to the next customer. So in the end you get to have tried all the different steps, and take home a set, even though the complete process takes multiple days of drying.

I really wanted to do a mother of pearl experience to have a souvineer to take back and this was such a good one! I love the end product and the class itself takes you through almost every step of the process as you continue on work from others until you finish the product. The instructor was super informative and great at fixing you though the steps.

The artisan leading the workshop is very kind and patient! He takes the time to explain the entire process of making cutlery, as well as the origin of the materials and their traditional use. I highly recommend this very unique activity, which takes place in the artisan's authentic workshop. A big thank you to him for his hospitality!

The person hosting the class was very informative and tried his best to conduct the class with the limited English he had. He made sure that my classmates and I understood what we did and the rationales behind the steps.

This was one of the highlights of my trip. Chon was very kind and took his time to explain the whole process. It was such a beautiful experience learning the art of lacquering. Chon even gave me a little gift, that he hand made, at the end! I would recommend this a million times if I could. Thank you, Chon! I hope to one day bring my family to this experience :)

Unlike what the description says. You continue the work of other participants, because the actual process takes 8 days. In the last step, you choose a spoon and chopsticks and make the finishing touches. And you take that with you. You learn every step and do the work for the next day for other participants. The man is very nice, explains everything, helps you with every step and shows you how to do it. He checks everything again and tells/shows you if anything needs to be improved. In the end you get a little surprise.
