Kawa Kawa Wildlife & Fireflies River Cruise in Sabah

Super value for money. At the first attraction, you can choose whether to take photos at the floating mosque at your own expense, and the reserved time is also sufficient. Later in the trip we went to see proboscis monkeys. The tour guide and the captain would try their best to find them and then take turns taking photos for everyone. When it came time for dinner, the food was not what I was looking forward to, but I ended up having it twice and it really went well with the meal. The following sunset happened to be a cloudy day that turned into nice weather. Because it was so beautiful, the tour guide allowed us 5 more minutes to take pictures. Finally, the fireflies are so beautiful that it is indescribable. It is really touching to see them glowing together in the same forest at the same time. Before starting, I thought that since there were only a bunch of fireflies in Taiwan, it would be okay, but in the end, I was glad that I chose this itinerary.

Tour guide John spoke entirely in Chinese throughout the tour because the entire group spoke Chinese. We were lucky enough to see proboscis monkeys and fireflies like a Christmas tree waterfall (my phone couldn't capture it, but the tour guide provided photos as souvenirs). Having the fireflies gently land on my hand was a wonderful experience. The tour guide also introduced Durian Street (I walked past it the day before and thought they were just regular stalls, the tour guide didn't explain it. I also learned about Sabah fruit and durian which only come from Sabah and are cheaper. If you like durian, you can try it). He also introduced Gaya Street, and after the firefly tour on weekends, you can get off here to take a stroll. Experience: Excellent

This was one of the most anticipated parts of our Sabah trip! First, our guide, Xiao Lai, was excellent. He introduced us to a lot of Sabah's culture and attractions along the way, and even helped us take beautiful photos. Throughout the entire trip, we had snacks, afternoon tea, and dinner, so we were constantly fed and never had to worry about being hungry. Next, during the river cruise, we saw wild animals like proboscis monkeys, long-tailed macaques, and lizards. Finally, the highlight was the fireflies. The night sky and the twinkling fireflies in the trees complemented each other beautifully. It was truly stunning! A very worthwhile experience.

I love this tour because it was chill and not rushing things. We had a smooth river cruise, saw some Proboscis Monkeys, crocodiles and kingfisher birds. We had a beautiful sunset as well. It’s a shame that it rained during our fireflies watching but we were able to see some of them. There were free snacks and tea and buffet dinner as well. The guide John was superb and accommodating. Will definitely try this tour again next time.

Relax trip, value for money. well plan and nice dinner provided. hotel pickup and drop off is the plus one. wild life trips must depend on your luck, not 100% can see the monkey, firefly 100% can see and it was amazing. boat man use light to attract the firefly to come towards you. very nice.

There is a hotel pick-up in the city. The meeting time for the next day will be contacted the day before. First, take photos at the mosque, then eat coconut pudding and snacks, and then swim in the river to find wild animals, long-tailed monkeys, etc. After returning, have dinner, go to the beach to watch the sunset, and swim in the river again to see fireflies. There are a lot of fireflies flying towards you, flashing and very beautiful.

I joined the Kawa Kawa Wildlife & Fireflies River Cruise and enjoyed it. The boat ride was relaxing, and we spotted proboscis monkeys and a few other animals along the river. The highlight was definitely the fireflies at night – seeing the trees light up was pretty special. The tour was well organized, with friendly guide John and a decent dinner included. Overall, it’s a nice trip if you want to experience a bit of Sabah’s nature without too much effort.

Our tour guide, John, was very professional and dedicated. He always looked after everyone at each stop. On the way back to the hotel, because the drop-off location was different from the pick-up point, John offered to drop us off at our accommodation... so thoughtful! The boat had some issues during the river cruise to see proboscis monkeys, and you could tell John was even more upset than we were 😅. Unfortunately, we only caught a glimpse of one proboscis monkey's back 😂, but the fireflies at night were worth seeing. We encountered heavy rain on the way back, making it a very special memory... A highly recommended tour 👍👍👍 Be prepared, the life jackets on the boat are quite dirty 😵 The dinner menu was like home-style cooking, quite delicious... 👍 The bus was comfortable and clean, and everyone was on time 👍

We enjoy the experience of this trip, the tour guide was good and he told us, our safety is important so we can really enjoy the trip. Lucky for this trip we can see a lot of firefly. We spot 2 Proboscis monkey too.

I had such a fun and memorable experience on the Kawa Kawa River Cruise tour! Even though I joined a Chinese joiner tour and people initially thought I was Chinese too, I quickly got comfortable and even made friends along the way. Our day started at the stunning Floating Mosque, then we went on the river cruise where we spotted some monkeys (though not the proboscis ones). The sunset at the beach was peaceful, the buffet dinner was great, and the night ended beautifully with fireflies lighting up the river.
