A Line | Literary Healing & Railway Hot Spring Cultural Tour Key Highlight: A Line offers the best value-for-money Yufuin no Mori experience on the entire network. Please note that the Yufuin no Mori train will not operate on the following dates and will be replaced by the retro red train [Limited Express Yufu]: June 1st-June 5th, June 22nd-June 26th, July 21st-July 24th, August 31st, September 1st-September 4th. Please note the distinction.

• Yufuin Town (150 minutes): Ample time to explore, freely wander along Yunotsubo Street, visit the inspiration source for Studio Ghibli, browse handmade shops, taste B-speak Swiss rolls and milk desserts; encounter Lake Kinrin shrouded in morning mist. • Yufuin no Mori Train (Yufuin Station to Oita Station): Kyushu’s top sightseeing train, with a dark green retro body and warm all-wood interior. Panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows frame the forests, valleys, and pastoral scenery along the way, as if traveling through a wonderland. It’s a must-experience moving landscape for railway enthusiasts and photographers. • Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) (30 minutes): The first of Beppu’s eight Hells, where iron sulfate creates a Tiffany blue clear pool. 98℃ high-temperature steam rises like a fairyland on the sea. You can taste hot spring steamed eggs and experience the unique charm of geothermal wonders. • Dazaifu (60 minutes): The head shrine of Japan’s god of learning, with a vermilion main hall complemented by 6,000 plum trees. The Heart-shaped Pond and Taikobashi Bridge offer a profound artistic conception. Pray for academic success, taste Umegae Mochi, and immerse yourself in traditional Japanese culture and the beauty of ancient architecture.

B Line | Natural Fun & Hot Spring Mountain Climbing Prayer Tour Key Highlight: Visit Beppu’s Six Sceneries – Nyoirin-ji Temple + Umi Jigoku + Kamado Jigoku + Mount Yufu Trailhead + Yufuin Town + Lake Kinrin. • Mount Yufu Trailhead: Unlock “Bungo Fuji” Mount Yufu, with its beautiful conical volcanic outline at an altitude of 1584 meters. The trailhead path is gentle, making it easy for beginners to hike, breathe fresh mountain air, overlook the Kuju mountain range and Beppu Bay, and embrace the natural wilderness. • Kamado Jigoku (Cooking Pot Hell): Beppu Hell’s “miniature museum,” gathering 6 unique hot spring pools in one garden. The water changes color with light and shadow. You can experience drinking hot spring water, steaming your face with hot spring steam, tasting hot spring century eggs and Jigoku Mushi (hell-steamed) cuisine, offering plenty of interaction and fun. • Nyoirin-ji Temple: A thousand-year-old ancient temple hidden in the mountains, home to over 5,000 frog statues with various expressions, symbolizing “safe return.” Ancient trees reach to the sky, and the Zen atmosphere is serene. Pray, make wishes, experience Japanese Buddhist culture, and heal your soul away from the hustle and bustle.

Yufuin town is really great for a stroll. There are many dessert shops and unique small stores. Eating and walking along the way is never boring, making it perfect for a leisurely one or two-hour visit.

Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), the azure hot spring pool, is truly stunning, and when the steam rises, it creates a very picturesque scene. Seeing it in person is even more amazing than in photos. You can also experience a free foot bath at Umi Jigoku.

Review for: Route A: [Including Umi Jigoku & Train] Yufuin no Mori Train Experience Tour

The tour package made our trip convenient. Our guide Jimmy was very enthusiastic and made the tour more enjoyable even with the rainy weather. The Yufuin no Mori train is a must to experience, and luckily the rain stopped during our ride (delayed but it was a blessing in disguise). For us, the itinerary was well planned with ample time to explore each destination. Make sure to bring a pair of slippers if you want to try the foot bath in Umijigoku. We really enjoyed our trip, thank you!

Our tour guide, Daisy, provided thorough explanations in Chinese throughout the trip and was very attentive to the elderly members of our group. She even created her own recommended Google lists for different areas and enthusiastically helped us call to reserve delicious kamameshi (rice cooked in an iron pot) at the restaurant in front of Yufuin Station. We got to try all three flavors: beef, chicken, and eel—it was truly amazing! At Tenmangu Shrine, she professionally advised us on which shops to visit first (as they were closing soon) and shared tips on how to pray and make wishes. On the way back, she recommended great places to eat and fun things to do in Fukuoka. Tour A offered a rich and interesting itinerary, allowing those who love shopping and good food to enjoy a fulfilling day. However, the schedule was tight and felt a bit rushed, and the travel time between destinations meant we couldn't fully enjoy shopping (how much do I love shopping, anyway?). Next time, I'd like to visit Yufuin on my own (I bought so many Miffy items!).

Review for: Route A: [Including Umi Jigoku & Train] Yufuin no Mori Train Experience Tour

Today, I participated in the Kyushu day tour led by tour guide Lily (Yufuin no Mori train, Yufuin town, Umi Jigoku hot spring, Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine), and the overall experience was fantastic! My family and I have traveled to Japan many times, and we've taken nearly 20 day and two-day tours. Lily is definitely one of the best tour guides I've ever met. Throughout the trip, her explanations were detailed, lively, and interesting. She was very familiar with Kyushu's history, culture, and attractions. She also thoughtfully reminded us of meeting times, photo spots, and important notes, making the entire day's itinerary well-organized. Even with longer travel times, we never felt bored. What's even more remarkable is how caring Lily was towards the group members. She always had a smile on her face, patiently answered questions, and quickly helped resolve any issues, making everyone feel at ease and comfortable. If I have the chance to visit Kyushu again in the future, I will definitely prioritize tours led by Lily. I sincerely recommend her to friends who are planning a trip to Kyushu. Thank you, Lily, for your dedication and professionalism, which made this trip a truly wonderful memory for us!

We had Nicole Yang as our guide for today, she is fluent in both English and Mandarin, and very approachable and helpful throughout the tour! The itinerary and timings for personal exploration was very appropriate and breathable, we felt that we had enough space and freedom to explore the venues on our own. Overall, the experience was lovely as it was our first time visiting Fukuoka. I would recommend going on this day-trip with this tour agency if you’re visiting Fukuoka for the first time as well!

Matthew is an excellent tour guide. His explanations and trivia are concise, informative, and easy to understand. He is very responsive, friendly, and accommodating throughout the tour. We needed to head to Beppu after the tour, and communication about our plans was smooth and effortless. Overall, he made the experience enjoyable and stress-free.

1. Our tour guide, Xiaoyu, is fluent in English, Chinese, and Japanese. She provided explanations at every attraction and repeatedly reminded us of the pick-up and drop-off times, making us feel very at ease. 2. Be sure to check your email the day before to confirm your tour group number. There will be many, many day tours at the meeting point, so it's essential to arrive early and find your group. 3. This itinerary covered all the must-see locations; we slept on the bus and enjoyed the sights when we got off. It was excellent, and we were back in Hakata around 6 PM, leaving time for our evening plans. 4. At Yufuin and Kinrin Lake, we walked around and took photos. We arrived around 10 AM to queue for Yufuin Kamameshi Shin and were fortunately the first to be seated. The food was served quickly, and the appetizers in the set meal were incredibly delicious! We ate for about half an hour, leaving an hour to quickly explore (I focused on the lake and Kamameshi Shin), then hurried back to the station to meet up. When boarding the train, remember not to sleep the entire time! Xiaoyu reminded us to visit the special car, get stamps, and take plenty of photos of our tickets and keep them safe. 5. At Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), there's a free foot bath. Even soaking for a few minutes helped relieve the morning's foot fatigue. It seemed not many people from our group went to use the foot bath.

The guide was fluent in both English and Mandarin. She is also helpful and friendly. The itinerary was a good one. The driving periods were neither too long nor too short. The view going to Beppu was amazing. Do note though that everything looks bigger in the pictures. The driver also drove smoothly.

I joined a one-day tour and had a great experience overall. The tour was well organized and started on time. At first, I couldn’t find the meetup details, so I contacted the agent. It turned out the information email had gone to my junk folder, so be sure to check there before reaching out. Ada did an excellent job as our guide. She shared useful information about each destination before we arrived, explained local customs and etiquette for worship, and recommended good local restaurants and dishes to try. Everything was handled smoothly from start to finish, making the whole trip enjoyable and hassle-free. I would definitely recommend this tour.

This was my first time traveling with a Klook tour, and I went with my mom. Li Jing was a wonderful guide 🤍. She was very approachable, polite, and had a great sense of humor, always looking out for each one of us. She introduced us to every attraction and shared relevant Japanese culture and history. She also made sure to explain meeting times, locations, restroom availability (which is super important, haha!), and what to buy versus what to avoid. I highly recommend Guide Li Jing! And a big thank you to our driver; Japanese drivers are incredibly polite 😭. I felt the itinerary was perfectly timed, though it was a bit of a shame that most shops in Dazaifu (snack shops, souvenir stores, etc.) close promptly at 5 PM 😅, so we didn't get to browse much since we arrived after 4 PM 🥲. But it couldn't be helped; they did their best with the schedule! 🫶🏻

The trip was very good. We appreciate our guide Zhang for his service, especially when he told stories of Tenjin God, and he even brought a comic book and a few pages to show. He always explains in both English and Chinese equally. He shares his thoughts and suggestions on where to go, what to do, buy, or eat at each stop. I think one of his strengths is that he studied in Beppu and shares naturally. He truly deserves this job and recognition. As for the driver, whose name I don't know, he is very active and funny. From the very first moment he stepped onto the bus, he greeted everyone eagerly and even wore a Minion mask to entertain passengers. We feel that he gives us service happily.
