Thailand's wettest and wildest New Year Festival is near, and you can join the locals in their traditional celebrations! Begin your day tour with a visit to the second most revered temple in Chiang Mai, Wat Phra Singh, where you'll witness sacred Buddha bathing rites performed by devoted monks. During your visit, enjoy local performances and watch a folk singing contest, or take a walk around the local market to buy goodies and souvenirs. After a quick break for lunch at a local Thai restaurant, immerse yourself in the procession and bathing of the Phra Phuttha Sihing, a sacred and much venerated Buddha statue. The rest of the afternoon will be dedicated to the exciting water battle all over the city. Arm yourself with water guns and water bottles and get ready to get soaked! Once you've had your fill of festivities, make your way to where you need to be on your own.
